Overview

CAES by Honeywell is seeking a Senior Director, Business Development and Strategy for its Mission Systems Business Unit, a multi-state operation with sites in PA, MA, and NJ. Where this role resides is open, but should be aligned to a Mission Systems worksite, or be relative to major customer locations. There is a strong preference for the successful candidate to be in the Philadelphia region (or able to be relocated there) at the BU headquarters within a sprawling campus in Lansdale, Montgomery County PA.

Reporting directly to Mission Systems' VP/GM, as a member of the BU Senior Leadership team, this is a key role responsible for leading the team who is responsible for developing and winning new business with top tier Defense Primes in the electronic warfare and radar segments; this role, too, drives the growth strategy that secures the future of the business. Ultimately, the role combines the technology expertise with outstanding people and organization leadership skills.

At this level you would be required to have indepth knowledge of the defense industry, its technology strategy, unique approach to market, and possess the ability to immediately make inroads with our valued customer base. Responsibilities

The ideal candidate possesses a demonstrated track record of delivering new business growth in the defense electronics market, leveraging multi-disciplinary technical and programmatic expertise. Essentially operating as a growth agent for Mission Systems, this individual will have existing positive relationships with industry primes, understanding their business goals. Working in the business, you're expected to have a demonstrated ability to collaborate across functions in a matrixed organization, collectively achieving positive business results. As a proven people leader, you capably drive organizational effectiveness within the BD and Sales functions, ensuring optimal org design and effectively delivering on outcomes.

The role is accountable for orders generation, forecasts, development, and execution of capture strategy for the assigned market areas of EW and Radar. The role will target pursuits where existing company solutions add value and new pursuits where IR&D and overarching CAES by Honeywell design capabilities can be applied. The role will partner cross-functionally to assure technology roadmaps meet emerging customer needs and investments.

Key Measures / Milestones:

  • Achieve Mission Systems new business order objectives.
    • Deliver forecast accuracy.
    • Create winning bids & proposals.
  • Contribute actively to continuous improvement of the BD & Strategy organization and the development of team capabilities.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in Engineering or Business with experience in the defense technology markets specific to Mission Systems customers.
  • MBA is a plus. Military service is favorable.
  • Experience with defense electronics design & manufacturing, relevant military RF market/customer acumen, and strong product/technology expertise in DoD systems and subsystems.
  • 15 years' experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams delivering growth in Tier 1 and Tier 2 U.S. defense contractors.
  • Experience delivering consistent business results across the pipeline for a product portfolio.
  • Business and technical acumen, including a track record of enabling business success through delivering results, including responsibility for budgets, schedules, cost estimates, resource planning, and proposals.
  • Experience working in and driving results in a matrix organization.
  • Active DOD Secret clearance with ability to obtain Top Secret.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Direct experience leading business development activities focused on RF market segment, specifically EW (airborne, ship based, and terrestrial electronic attack, electronic protection, and electronic support) and radar (air, sea, land).
  • Direct experience with radio frequency, microwave, and millimeter components, assemblies, and subsystem design & manufacture, relevant market/customer acumen, and strong product and technology expertise.
  • Direct experience with RF subsystem and microwave integrated circuit assembly.
  • Experience in program management and/or engineering in related military radar program segments.
  • Proven capability at closing business opportunities
  • Strength in translating market research into sound forecast data, driving predictability and strategic outcomes.
