Summary The Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) develops, coordinates, and supervises the implementation and maintenance of a project occupational health and safety program designed to prevent injury, occupational illness, and damage to property. The SSHO works with the onsite Construction Superintendent and Project Manager, subcontractors, and other third-party entities to develop construction means and methods that meet all the minimum OSHA and other applicable regulatory minimum standards for safety and health. The pay rate for this position is $35.00-$45.00/hour. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Required Skills Ability to plan, organize, promote, and implement a comprehensive health/safety program. Develop and recommend policies and procedures; assemble and interpret statistical data. Prepare reports and manual interpreting and summarizing technical and/or complex information for use by less knowledgeable individuals. Identify, plan, conduct or provide training in a variety of safety, health, and other risk management related areas. Work with various cultural and ethnic groups in a tactful and effective manner and act quickly in emergency situations. Analyze situations quickly and objectively and to determine proper course of action. Use a computer and other job-related equipment. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Other Requirements Ability to preserve confidential information is a critical component of this position. This position may require occasional weekend and evening work. Candidate is subject to a reference check, credit check, or background investigation and may be required to meet other suitability criteria as outlined in government contact requirements. Candidate must be authorized to perform work in the U.S. and provide evidence of credentials, as requested. Must have the 30-hour OSHA construction safety class or equivalent within the past five years. Must have participated in at least 24 hours of formal safety training each year for the past five years with training as "competent person" status in the following four areas: excavation and confined space. Must be able to produce written verification of certifications and training. Certified by owner agencies when necessary. Physical Demands

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 40+ hours a week Experience
10 years: *Minimum of 10 years work experience as a SSHO with at least 5 years of experience on construction industry projects, specifically with the Federal Government
o2 years of the 5 years of experience may be substituted with CSP certification -or- o2 years of the 5 years of experience may be substituted with a degree in Safety & Health (required) Licenses & Certifications
30 hour OSHA training (required)
