About This Role:

Research and extension programs for this position will focus on the economics of water resources. Kansas faces a wide array of challenges related to water across the state. Challenges include the depletion of the High Plains Aquifer, sedimentation of reservoirs, and degraded quality of surface and groundwater. This position will develop a research program on water resource problems as they relate to agriculture and the environment. Potential topics include the demand and value of water, alternative management strategies and institutions, the economics of conservation practices, and the design and consequences of incentives and policies. This position will also engage with local, state, and federal agencies and stakeholders to disseminate applied research and extension programs.

Responsibilities:



  • Develop and deliver nationally and internationally recognized research programs.
  • Develop extension programs that address relevant issues for stakeholders and agencies.
  • Develop and lead collaborative interdisciplinary initiatives with faculty across the university as well as other faculty in Agricultural Economics.
  • Advise and direct research by graduate students.
  • Attract grant funds to support research and extension programs.
  • Create an environment that fosters diversity and collegiality while working in a multi-cultural setting.


Worksite Options:

This position is required to be performed on-site. Work is performed on employer premises or designated assignment location.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:




  • Assistant Professor: Ph.D. or equivalent in agricultural economics, applied economics, or closely related field. Strong record of academic achievement, desire to develop a renowned research program, excellent written and oral communication skills.

    Associate Professor: Ph.D. or equivalent in agricultural economics, applied economics, or closely related field. Strong record of published research, excellent written and oral communication skills.




Preferred Qualifications:




  • Assistant Professor: Research publications in peer-reviewed journals, experience in writing grant proposals, outreach activities, and demonstrated ability to initiate and advance projects with minimal supervision.

    Associate Professor: Established record of excellent research publications in peer-reviewed journals, success in obtaining grant funding, experience developing relevant extension programming, and demonstrated ability to initiate and advance projects with minimal supervision.
