We currently have an exciting opportunity in our Environmental department. This position specifically islocated in Norfolk, Virginia. We are looking for a EHS Intern, the hours are Monday - Friday 07:00 - 16:00.
This position is a ten week temporary one and will be utilized to support environmental science, occupational health, industrial hygiene and/or safety program development or enhancement.
Successful candidates must be currently enrolled (full-time) in a four year college or university. Preference is given to seniors and juniors as well as those enrolled :
Must be available for 10 consecutive weeks. POSITION DEMANDS (REQUIRED EXPERIENCE)
While interning at NASSCO-Norfolk, students will not only be given the opportunity to practically apply the skills they've acquired in the classroom, but they will be expected to become an integral part of the NASSCO-Norfolk team. Because of the complexity that is inherent in ship repair, the EHS Intern will find endless avenues for contribution and learning. Specifically, interns can anticipate involvement in and exposure to the following areas: Company Management, Environmental Protection, Health (Industrial Hygiene) and Occupational Safety, Material flow and procurement, Program Management, and Production Supervision.
Must be able to access all leased and owned property and go aboard ships. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects or controls, and to talk and hear. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is occasionally exposed to dust, welding/burning fumes, smoke and moderate noise levels when performing inspections.
