Responsibilities
NORTON CHILDREN'S NEONATOLOGY, affiliated with the UofL School of Medicine, and a part of Norton Children's Medical Group, is seeking a neonatal nurse practitioner. The selected candidate will join a team of clinicians that includes 40 neonatologists, 43 neonatal advanced practice providers, four pediatric hospitalists and eight neonatal fellows, offering comprehensive care with the support of Norton Children's extensive network of providers skilled at caring for newborns and infants with special conditions. The neonatology team practices at two neonatal intensive care units (NICUs), including one of the nation's largest Level IV NICUs at Norton Children's Hospital in downtown Louisville. Both NICUs combine elements of private practice with an academic model to foster collaboration among neonatologists, advanced practice providers, fellows, residents and trainees. Through various partnerships, outreach services also are provided at several Level II and Level III NICUs throughout the region. ABOUT THE POSITION:
- The APP provides healthcare to neonatal patients in the office and hospital with an emphasis on disease prevention, health promotion, health maintenance and supportive care
- The APP works independently, as well as collaboratively, to diagnose, prescribe treatment, manage and evaluate patient care
- The APP functions as an educator, healthcare resource, interdisciplinary consultant and patient advocate.
- Primary care delivery site is hospital inpatient
- Duties include high risk delivery attendance, resuscitation, core advanced neonatal procedures.
- Experienced and new graduate APP's - a new graduate Transition to Practice Program is provided, along with an individualized orientation for all new hires.
- Required: BLS and NRP, Neonatal PA residency completion
