Daikin Applied is seeking a talented and eager Buyer/Planner. Responsibilities include the development and implementation of an aggressive cost-improvement program for assigned commodities and performance of supplier audits to monitor the suitability of current suppliers. This individual will take part in negotiation of business unit agreements and working closely with both Design and Manufacturing Engineering to develop demand-based supply systems.

Location: In office, Staunton, VA.

What you will do:



  • Negotiate assigned agreements and prepare required contracts
  • Develop and implement an aggressive cost-reduction program for assigned commodities
  • Ensure timely and thorough communication of required information to other business unit components
  • Develop a material control plan to minimize obsolescence and reduce inventories
  • Purchase global commodities as assigned
  • Monitor price trends of raw materials and commodities and recommend sources, timing, and quantity of purchases
  • Maintain an accurate data base for current and potential suppliers, materials, prices, deliver dates, and inventories
  • Obtain and analyze quotations, issue purchase orders for direct material, and expedite deliveries and shipments
  • Manage and execute several complex tasks simultaneously
  • Ensure company standard procedures are followed in connection with purchases of materials and services


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3+ year of related experience
  • Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position

The typical annual base salary for this position ranges from $59,500-$90,500 in VA. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
