First (Days) (United States of America) Welcome to Sentara Health's new graduate LPN fast-track application.

As aLicensed Practical Nursewith Sentara, you can excel in your career with the opportunity to work in one of the many Sentara Health locations located throughout Virginia and Northeastern North Carolina. Areas would include our Acute Care Hospitals, Medical Group Practices, and Sentara Enterprises. Please note that some of our acute care units may not be accepting new grads at this time.

Primary responsibilities include:

The primary duties of this position include triaging, verifying medical information, caring for the patient's overall health, and working closely with the doctors and other team members. You will find that teamwork is exceptional, with everyone working together to ensure the best care for our patients.

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • Graduate or graduating from an accredited Practical Nursing program

  • Current/Active LPN License

  • The placement process will accept those who are within 30 days of their PN-NCLEX test date

Sentara considers you a new graduate if you are about to graduate or have graduated and have under 1 year of practice.

Job Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) functions under the supervision of an RN or Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP) in the clinical setting, within the scope of practice dictated by the State Boards of Nursing. The LPN demonstrates professional and clinical knowledge relative to designated clinical practice setting in the delivery of direct patient care, adhering to the level of verified competency dictated by the site specific program. The LPN works as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support and communicate effectively with other licensed independent practitioners (Physicians, NP, PA) in collaboration while providing care and treatment for patients, clinical support and teaching for patient and family members, and adheres to the legal and ethical standards of nursing practice. Maintains all certifications and licensure relevant to clinical practice setting. LPN manages responsibilities of workload with accuracy, provides excellence in customer service, performs testing, medication administration and the implementation of nursing interventions and care plans to support a holistic approach to patient care. The LPN serves as patient advocate in the prevention of illness or disease.

Meets any requirements defined by specific specialty.
Behavioral Health - de-escalation and physical intervention training within 15 days of hire
Emergency Care - de-escalation and physical intervention training within 90 days of hire.
BLS required within 90 days of hire. Sentara Enterprises: 1 year healthcare experience required.

Qualifications:

DIP - Diploma: Nursing (Required), TS - Trade School Graduate: Nursing (Required) Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) RQI, Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Nursing License - Compact/Multi-State License, Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Single State - Nursing License - North Carolina, Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Single State - Nursing License - Virginia Department of Health Professionals (VADHP)
