Job Summary

The Office of Institutional Equity and Compliance encourages applications for an Equity and Compliance Investigator and Case Resolutions Specialist to join our case resolutions team.

The position of Investigator and Case Resolutions Specialist in the Office of Institutional Equity and Compliance (OIEC) at the University of Colorado Boulder is a strategic position that aids in the prevention and adjudication of incidents of protected class harassment, discrimination, sexual misconduct, intimate partner violence, stalking, and related retaliation at CU Boulder. Investigators educate the CU Boulder community about the University policies on sexual misconduct, protected class discrimination and harassment, and amorous relationships and advise these constituents about the procedures to file a complaint and the grievance and adjudication processes. The Investigator will work with others on the case resolutions team to address allegations of potential policy violations and use other remedies-based options to tailor specific resolutions to the unique facts and circumstances of an incident(s).

OIEC Investigators work collaboratively with numerous on and off campus resources, such as the Office of Victim Assistance, Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution, Residence Life, CU Police Department, Student Outreach Advocacy and Support, Office of University Counsel, Counseling and Psychiatric Services, ADA Compliance, Human Resources, Ombuds Office, Faculty Affairs, Boulder Police Department, Moving to End Sexual Assault (MESA), and Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence (SPAN).

CU is an Equal Opportunity Employer and complies with all applicable federal, state, and local laws governing nondiscrimination in employment. We are committed to creating a workplace where all individuals are treated with respect and dignity, and we encourage individuals from all backgrounds to apply, including protected veterans and individuals with disabilities.

Who We Are

The Office of Institutional Equity and Compliance (OIEC) is committed to preventing and addressing discrimination and harassment based on race, color, national origin, pregnancy, sex, age, disability, creed, religion, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, veteran status, political affiliation, and political philosophy at the university. To achieve this mission, we conduct fair and unbiased investigations under the Sexual Misconduct, Intimate Partner Violence, and Stalking Policy, Protected Class Nondiscrimination Policy, and the Consensual Amorous Relationships Policy. We commit to treat all individuals who seek our assistance with respect and dignity. We also coordinate the provision of accommodations and interim remedies as necessary, and provide educational trainings and workshops for all members of the university community, including faculty, staff, and students.

  • Establish and maintain case files, perform database entry, maintain electronic files, and ensure cases are entered appropriately and consistently.
  • For formal grievances under the Protected Class Nondiscrimination Policy, complete a Determination Regarding Responsibility including findings of fact and policy analyses based on the information obtained during the investigation.

Encouraging and maintaining campus partnerships is important for success in this position. This position has the opportunity to serve on committees and attend open forums, trainings, and seminars to develop and increase connection with other campus resources.

  • Investigators are encouraged to research trainings applicable to OIEC policies/procedures, including changes in the law that impact the OIEC, and make suggestions to the OIEC regarding appropriate and/or necessary trainings regarding improvement of policies and procedures.
