Job Summary

The Applications Engineer IV is an advancedlevel individual contributor responsible for enterprise application leadership, strategic customer engagement, and deep technical influence on product and solution direction. The role requires expert judgment, autonomy, and crossfunctional leadership. Success is measured by application performance, customer outcomes, product adoption, strategic deal support, and organizational technical capability.

About the Role & Mission

Are you ready to take your technical expertise to the next level and drive our commercial growth across North America?

We are seeking a Senior Application Engineer to serve as the primary technical partner between Nidec Global Appliance and our key commercial accounts. In this high-impact role, you will lead application and product specification strategies, direct product development, and strengthen Nidec's position as a technological leader in the cooling and commercial appliance industry.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Engagement & Strategic Partnership

  • Act as the main Senior Application Engineering contact for Nidec's key commercial customers.
  • Conduct weekly face-to-face project follow-ups and hold quarterly reviews with customers to ensure project success and exceed expectations.
  • Understand customer portfolios and long-term strategies to protect and expand Nidec's market share.

Technical Strategy & Application Support

  • Evaluate complex technical requirements for major OEM projects and recommend optimal product and service solutions.
  • Align customer requirements with R&D teams to direct future product developments and innovations.
  • Support on-site Quality Assurance (QA) issues, Technical Decision Analysis (TDA), and continuous improvement initiatives (cost reduction, process optimization, and new designs).
  • Approve and implement product changes seamlessly without placing customer applications at risk.

Business Growth & Market Intelligence

  • Map new business and application opportunities to increase contribution margins and market share.
  • Estimate costs and consult closely with the sales force on technical integration and proposal development.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor capabilities, and evolving energy/safety codes and regulatory standards.

Operations & Field Collaboration

  • Coordinate pilot production runs with QA and Production teams to guarantee compliance and swift customer approvals.
  • Travel to assigned customer sites, OEMs, and Nidec manufacturing/R&D plants domestically and internationally as required.
Candidate Profile & Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Experience: 5-7 years of relevant experience in technical application engineering or engineering support.

Technical & Professional Skills

  • Strong technical background in Thermodynamics, Compressors, Controls, and Refrigeration Systems.
  • Experience using complex analytical tools to evaluate, streamline, and design solutions driving operational excellence.
  • Proficient in technical proposal writing, cost estimation, and presenting to executive and technical stakeholders.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
