What Your Job Will Be Like

We are seeking a motivated R&D, S&E Systems Engineer to join Group 330 supporting multiple Nuclear Deterrence (ND) programs within the Program Management Offices (PMO). The ND PMO manages NNSA funding that supports Nuclear Deterrence capabilities and programs across Sandia National Laboratories.

Group 330 plays a vital role in sustaining production base capabilities across diverse technology areas. Our responsibilities include sustaining production, qualifications, and engineering capabilities, advancing non-nuclear capability modernization, and driving capability-based investments that strategically enhance our technical competencies and infrastructure to meet evolving mission needs. Additionally, the team oversees infrastructure and operations, including facility recapitalization, maintenance, and operations, ensuring long-term sustainability and mission readiness.

A critical focus for our team is data sustainment, maintaining and improving the integrity, accessibility, and usability of data related to equipment and capabilities. We are actively seeking a data sustainment specialist with strong programming skills who can build tools to support data management, analysis, and reporting needs across the portfolio. In addition, we require a program engineer to oversee day-to-day program execution across multiple areas, coordinating activities, managing technical scope, and ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and federal counterparts.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Support integration efforts by working with leadership and business partners to assemble and analyze data for planning and decision-making.
  • Translate technical needs into clear program justifications for cost, schedule, and scope requirements.
  • Assess program risks and issues and help prioritize and manage execution across the portfolio.
  • Identify and develop innovative solutions to mitigate program risks
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams and external partners to optimize resources and program outcomes.
  • Coordinate data collection and analysis to support monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting to NNSA.
  • Develop and maintain strong communication channels across programs and with external stakeholders.
  • Support senior management in responding to NNSA and PMO leadership requests.
  • Build and maintain data tools and systems to enhance data sustainment and reporting capabilities.

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant will be hybrid or remote.

About Our Team

The 0330 Group provides Strategic and Programmatic technical planning, coordination and integration for the NDPMO spanning from current FY through FYNSP. The Group provides rapid responsive program integration and analysis on behalf of the ND Program and NNSA. Work responsibilities include: 1) Sandia Representative to the Integrated Planning Group (IPG), whose primary deliverable is the annual Stockpile Responsiveness and Management Plan (SSMP) report to Congress; 2) NW PMO integrator for the NNSA Weapon Program Budget Integration Meeting; 3) Information products that integrate key messages and cross-cutting studies; and 4) technical assistance to NNSA that includes program management for Sandia recapitalization and capabilities based investment projects. These functions are accomplished through interfacing with various NNSA organizations, ND Program Areas, and Sandia line management.

Posting Duration

This posting will be open for application submissions for a minimum of three (3) calendar days, including the 'posting date'. Sandia reserves the right to extend the posting date at any time.

Security Clearance

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

Applicants offered employment with Sandia are subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment.

EEO

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, or veteran status and any other protected class under state or federal law.

NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
