About This Role

KSU Salina seeks an Academic Advisor to provide comprehensive academic advising and student success support for prospective, new, transfer, and continuing students. This position assists students with academic planning, course selection, degree progress, and understanding university policies and requirements; evaluates academic records; connects students with university resources; and collaborates with faculty and staff to support student retention, persistence, and graduation. The Academic Advisor also contributes to orientation, enrollment, student success programming, and advising initiatives while maintaining accurate student records and providing proactive outreach to students in need of additional academic support.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree.
  • One year of relevant experience.
  • Valid Driver's License required upon employment.

    The degree requirement ensures candidates possess the foundational knowledge in educational theory, student development and institutional policy interpretation essential to effective academic advising. These competencies are typically developed and rigorously validated only through the comprehensive curriculum and intensive experiential learning inherent in a formal degree program.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Two years experience working in higher education
  • Experience working in college admissions or academic advising
  • Familiarity with K-State Salina academic programs and curriculum
  • Master's degree in Counseling, Academic Advising, College Student Development, Education, or related field

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.
