Materials Associate - Driver

DeSHAZO builds custom material handling and automation equipment, which means a constant flow of parts moving between our shop, our vendors, and our customers. The Materials Associate keeps that flow organized - making sure every part is where it should be and gets where it needs to go next. It's an independent, hands-on role with a mix of material handling, driving, and organization.

DUTIES:

Material flow and organization

* Relocate incoming material from the receiving area to its proper storage location, organized by project.

* Keep receiving and staging areas clear so incoming freight always has somewhere to land.

* Own the material storage system - establish and label locations for new projects, and reorganize as jobs move through.

* Kit completed parts to their project locations as they come off the shop floor.

* Stage parts headed to outside processing vendors.

* Keep all storage areas organized, labeled, and accurate, so any part can be found quickly.

* Operate forklifts up to 10,000 lb. capacity to move material, parts, and finished equipment.

* Comply with all safety rules and regulations, and keep work areas clean and orderly.

Driving and outside processing

* Run parts to offsite vendors on a regular weekly schedule, and make occasional delivery runs to customers.

* Pack, load, secure, and rig parts for transport, including trailer loads.

* Inspect parts returning from outside processing before they're placed in proper location- checking for coating defects, masking errors, and handling damage.

Shipping and receiving support

* Back up Shipping and Receiving during absences and busy periods - unloading trucks, opening and breaking down incoming freight, and verifying contents against packing slips.

* Pack spare parts orders for shipment.

* Help load outbound trucks, strap and band loads to pallets, and stage outbound freight.

* Help offload inbound shipments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

* High school diploma or GED.

* Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

* Experience driving a full-size truck and towing a trailer.

* Forklift experience, including high-capacity (5,000-10,000 lb.) forklifts.

* Basic computer skills, and willing to learn our systems.

* Reliable and detail oriented.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* Experience in a machine shop, fab shop, or custom manufacturing environment.

* Rigging experience.

* Experience packaging parts for freight or parcel shipment.

* Any exposure to an ERP or inventory system.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

* This position requires standing and walking for extended periods of time on concrete floors, climbing, bending, and kneeling, and occasional lifting of 50 lbs. unassisted.
