What to Expect
Ideal candidate has shop leadership, manufacturing engineering, and production planning experience plus a technical background in high-volume EV manufacturing. Role owns look-ahead planning, near-term plan pivots, and recovery coordination with shop leadership, Production Control, Master Scheduling, NPI, Material Planning, and Logistics.
What You'll Do
- Lead, hire, coach, and performance-manage Lead Production Controllers, Production Controllers, and OCC Technicians across multi-shift coverage
- Set OCC operating standards for look-ahead, escalation, communications, recovery, and closed-loop follow-through
- Own near-term plan and authorize factory-level plan pivots that maximize output across GA, Paint, Body, Plastics, Stamping, Castings, Drive Unit, Battery, Power Electronics, and Service
- Accountable for product and material flow into, through, and out of shops for Model Y, Cybertruck, and Cybercab
- Drive hourly KPI updates, root-cause analysis on downtime/OEE/WIP discrepancies, and shop recovery action plans
- Standardize and scale GFTX OCC playbooks, Daily Sync/Tracker, Failure Analysis, VIN tracking, BDC/ASRS control, and multi-program mix/option-code systems
- Align labor allocation, JIT/JIS timing, ECO/NPI deployments, and post-shutdown recovery with shops, PC, Material Planning, and Logistics
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Operations, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years high-volume manufacturing as shop lead/manager, manufacturing engineer, planner/scheduler, or production controller
- 2+ years people management of leads, supervisors, or controllers on multi-shift teams
- Proven ability to run constrained near-term plans (mix, material, downtime, NPI, labor) and make factory-level calls with incomplete data
- Proficiency in Excel, Tableau/DataViz, MES/MFS, batch/VIN tools, WIP, and downtime systems with ability to improve them
- Flexibility for 24/7 day/night and off-hours coverage on the floor and in the control room
- Strong communication, collaboration, and resourceful problem-solving in a fast-paced environment with clean shift handoffs
