Responsibilities: Job SummaryPGY-1 Resident Physicians are post-graduate physicians in training who are hired to begin to acquire knowledge and skills in their chosen specialty. The PGY-1 residents care for patients under the supervision of both resident physicians (PGY-2 and above), post-graduate fellow physicians, and attending physicians who are ultimately responsible for the patient's care. The training program is under the direction of the specialty Program Director who has the ultimate responsibility of the training program and evaluation of the PGY-1 resident's competency. This training occurs in HonorHealth facilities or through contractual relationships with other outside entities/facilities to provide such training. PGY-1 Residents must meet or exceed all specialty-specific Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) PGY-level competencies and HonorHealth and ACGME requirements in order to successfully complete their PGY-1 year of training.
