Description

First Merchants is seeking a Sr Commercial Loan Reporting & Controls Analyst to join our team! This position will support Commercial Business Operations by ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and reconciliation of loan related financial data across systems and the general ledger. Provide analysis and support to obtain optimal business value, focusing on SBA and commercial loan portfolios, including 1502 reporting, impaired loan servicing, and GL interface validation. Identify process improvement opportunities through analysis and collaboration to achieve effective and efficient operations.

As part of this role you will:



  • Perform General Ledger (GL) and Demand Deposit Account (DDA) reconciliations for loan portfolios, identifying, researching, and resolving discrepancies.
  • Validate loan system interfaces to the General Ledger (GL), ensuring the accurate recording of principal, interest, fees, and charge-offs.
  • Perform servicing activities for impaired loans, including non-accrual loans, charge-offs, recoveries, and related account maintenance.
  • Prepare, review, and reconcile Small Business Administration (SBA) Form 1502 reporting and support the full SBA loan servicing lifecycle.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance reconciliation controls, exception reporting, and monitoring processes to ensure data integrity and operational accuracy.
  • Support internal and external audits, compliance monitoring activities, and process documentation efforts.
  • Partner with Operations, Finance, Credit, and Information Technology (IT) teams to investigate discrepancies, resolve issues, and improve processes.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements and operational efficiencies through the effective use of technology and automation.


To be successful in this position, we require the following:



  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field OR Associate Degree/ Two years of College + Two (2) years of related work/military experience OR four (4) years of related work/military experience
  • A minimum of three (3) years in loan servicing, accounting, finance or related field


The following would be a plus:



  • Experience with SBA 1502 reporting, loan accounting, and reconciliations.
  • Experience with impaired loans, charge-offs, and recoveries.
  • Strong Excel and core banking system experience.
