POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for the management of Information Technology (IT) operations including the following departments: IT Service Desk, Network & Telecommunications, Computer Operations, and Workflow Systems. Possesses hands-on skills in most if not all functions of IT operations and provides technical direction to the team. This position is also responsible for management of IT operations and programming for Wescom Resources Credit Union Services Organization (CUSO) clients. Develops, implements, and executes strategy to enhance the Credit Union's ability to deliver evolving services to members, ensuring alignment with the Credit Union's overall business objectives. Partners with the President of the CUSO and the CUSO team for business development, sales and service delivery for the CUSO. Provides IT systems and tools for current and future needs that result in efficient and cost-effective delivery to all users.

Assures systems are operational and secure for member and employee use. Effectively manages internal operations and expertly manages vendor relationships to meet established service level agreements. Provides active leadership for team members and external consultants for technology platform upgrades and maintenance. This forward-thinking executive is informed and networked with leading technology and providers, and able to develop applicable and appropriate business proposals and solutions designed to improve the credit union's service to its members.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

  • Drives the information technology team to deliver superior service by engaging commitment to strategy, clarifying purpose, job expectations, and execution plans. Monitors and reports on performance.

  • Actively manages IT Security efforts, placing the highest priority on the protection of our networks, systems, and data.

  • Responsible for the operational availability, reliability, performance, and support of enterprise technology services, ensuring exceptional service delivery to members, employees, and CUSO clients.

  • Establishes and maintains IT service management practices, operational processes, service level objectives, and performance metrics to ensure reliable and efficient delivery of technology services.

  • Leads operational readiness efforts including disaster recovery, business continuity, incident management, and service restoration processes to ensure resilience of critical technology services.

  • Enhances job performance of staff members using education, exposure to ideas and connections, coaching, counseling, mentoring, and the performance management process.

  • Leads with hands-on delivery and directs the work of others. Assists managers and individual contributors in setting and achieving goals and meeting procedures, standards, and expectations. Guides staff in resolving difficult situations by determining the most effective technical solution to maximize benefits for the Credit Union and its members.

  • Maintains a highly visible position, providing informed technical input to strategic planning processes, and strongly supports new technology and business initiatives. Works as a key member of the team that develops and maintains strategic technological vision, thereby leading and supporting the credit union's drive to remain an industry technology leader.

  • Ensures that high-caliber member service and internal service are consistently delivered with urgency, accuracy, and a positive attitude.

  • Develops and implements an organizational structure that continues to complement a growing and evolving organization.

  • Has the ability to think independently and strategically and to recommend changes as appropriate.

  • Displays strong project management and organizational skills, as well as proven leadership and motivational ability. Has the ability to identify and develop leaders within the organization.

  • Committed to building and fostering strong teamwork and team building within the division and across the organization. Interviews, schedules and trains staff to continually improve performance.

  • Provides technical leadership and performs feasibility studies of all project proposals, plans and reviews in diverse IT technology areas. Contributes to the development of strategic plans and goals related to the department responsibilities and products.

  • Monitors and analyzes trends/changes in all aspects of the Information Technology industry. Develops and recommends changes to products, policies and procedures.

  • Encourages, develops, and implements streamlining and automation of work processes. Provides leadership in process design and innovation.

  • Produces and maintains required documentation, such as policies, procedures, and risk assessments.

  • Develops, monitors, and manages the operating budget for the departments, including any third-party related expenses. Ensures expenses are maintained within the annual business plan and department goals. Creates annual capital budget requirements. Actively monitors and controls expenses and prepares accurate budget variance reporting.

  • Interacts, as needed, with internal and/or external auditors and regulators to provide data, explanation, and confirmation of compliance with credit union industry, state and federal requirements.

  • Collaborates with departments throughout the credit union to maintain proficiency in commitments that impact IT resources.

COMMITTEE PARTICIPATION:

  • Member of Executive Team: Joins with all management members to review and address member service delivery and related functions, operational policies, employee issues, quality control problems, planning items and other Wescom activities. The position is eligible for the Credit Union's Management Team Incentive Program and Team Award.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or technology with five or more years' experience in a hands-on executive management role is required.

  • Ten or more years of related experience may substitute for a degree.

  • Three or more years' experience leading a professional, technical staff is required.

  • An understanding of technology and how it can be successfully implemented to reach strategic objectives is required.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Requires technical and expert level knowledge of data processing systems and applications, data network architecture and security, and the ability to provide operational management of a highly technical environment. Substantial exposure to data processing, hardware platforms, enterprise software applications, and outsourced systems, including Microsoft Windows, Apple iOS devices, Linux, SharePoint, VMWare, etc.

  • Requires experience and strong technical knowledge to manage Enterprise Genesys Phone systems along with Interactive Voice Assistant and Voice Biometrics capabilities.

  • Should have strong financial management discipline, and the ability to effectively manage key vendor relationships. Has the ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports and legal documents.

  • Knowledge of credit union or other federally insured financial institution operations and ability to integrate and communicate critical information is required. Has the ability to network with credit union organizations and other technical groups.

  • Advanced written, oral, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills are required, along with the ability to work successfully with all levels of the organization.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).

  • Experience with Symitar and/or Corelation core processing systems.

  • Exposure with security technologies such as intrusion prevention, anomaly detection, SEIM and security analytic tools.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
