Quality Lab Intern - Summer 2027

The Quality Lab Intern will be responsible for assisting in monitoring quality control, analytical testing, microbiological testing, environmental testing, and coordinating laboratory paperwork.

Duties / Responsibilities:



  • Perform microbiological and chemical testing on bulk cheese, ingredients, finished product, equipment, and the plant environment.
  • Participate in split sampling/proficiency testing.
  • Perform environmental swabbing as instructed.
  • Maintain lab/quality supply inventory.
  • Maintain and ensure the accuracy of lab/quality equipment calibration.
  • Develop, maintain, and distribute Certificates of Analysis.
  • Assist with fat, moisture, salt, and pH analyses on bulk cheese and finished products.
  • Perform quality melts on different cheese blends and finished products.
  • Investigate customer complaints and bulk complaints.
  • Assist the Quality Lab Technician in maintaining laboratory and quality-related SOPs.
  • Consistent and reliable attendance to maintain adequate staffing levels and meet customer commitments is required.



What You Can Offer:



  • Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree program in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a food manufacturing or laboratory setting is desired.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good decision-making skills regarding quality standards.
  • Knowledge of GMP requirements.
  • Knowledge or willingness to learn the AOAC-approved methods for cheese testing.
  • Knowledge or willingness to learn the food standard methods.
  • Good organizational skills and analytical ability.
