Description

Your Role

Gensler's Morristown office is seeking an IT Manager to lead local technology operations and provide high-quality support to our office community. This role manages day-to-day IT services, supports office leadership, and partners closely with the Regional IT Director to advance firmwide and regional IT priorities.

In this role, you will lead IT service delivery for the office, oversee and develop the local IT support team, manage technology projects and resources, and provide hands-on support across desktop, server, network, meeting room audiovisual, and vendor management needs.

The IT Manager will help translate broader IT objectives into clear local goals, project plans, and support strategies. You will communicate updates, monitor progress, and help ensure office technology standards, policies, and procedures are understood and followed.

This is a people-focused and service-oriented leadership role. You will manage expectations across the office, guide projects from start to finish, assign resources, track timelines, and mentor local IT team members, including one IT Technician. You will also serve as the primary connection between the Morristown office and regional and firmwide IT operations.

Daily responsibilities include overseeing support and processes related to messaging, network connectivity (LAN/WAN), VoIP, servers, workstations, and meeting technology. Occasional support outside of regular business hours may be needed for office events, special projects, system upgrades, or outages.

What You Will Do

  • Partner with employees at all levels, from general end users to office leadership and Principals, to understand technology needs and deliver responsive support.
  • Resolve technology issues efficiently and thoughtfully, with a focus on minimizing downtime and maintaining a strong employee experience.
  • Support consistent use of company IT policies, procedures, and standards across the office.
  • Build strong relationships with staff to understand their technology skill levels and provide tailored, hands-on support.
  • Balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail, service quality, and follow-through.

Service Desk Leadership

  • Manage service desk queues and help ensure requests are addressed in a timely and customer-focused manner.
  • Review incidents that exceed service levels and escalate issues as appropriate.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction and meet regularly with office and studio leadership to understand needs and address trends.
  • Review daily service desk activity and publish monthly performance updates.
  • Maintain accurate incident resolution records and create support documentation for configurations, installations, and recurring processes.

Team Leadership and Administration

  • Lead, coach, and support local IT team members, including performance feedback, time review, and ongoing development.
  • Participate in recurring meetings with office leadership, regional IT, and firmwide IT partners.
  • Ensure team members are trained in standard operating procedures and consistently apply established processes.

Asset Management

  • Manage IT assets, allocations, and inventory processes for the office.
  • Coordinate procurement, supply stock, and disposal processes in partnership with the Regional IT Director.
  • Track software licenses and confirm appropriate utilization.
  • Manage move, add, and change processes for computers, phones, and related technology needs.

Project Management

  • Plan, prioritize, and maintain a clear pipeline of office IT tasks and projects.
  • Assign tasks, monitor progress, and follow up to ensure timely completion.
  • Provide regular project updates through status reports, meetings, and ongoing communication.

Budget

  • Support the development and oversight of the office IT budget.
  • Track expenditures and manage spending in alignment with approved budgets and business needs.

Training and Communication

  • Develop and deliver IT training for staff and end users through presentations, documentation, and hands-on support.
  • Communicate technology changes, helpful tips, and training opportunities to office leadership and staff.

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent relevant IT experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in IT operations, preferably within professional services, advertising, architecture, engineering, or law firm environments.
  • At least 2 years of experience managing staff, with demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and develop team members.
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows Server products, IP networking technologies, Windows 11, Microsoft M365, and Outlook.
  • Experience with Mac OS X in a corporate environment is a plus.
  • Experience supporting meeting room audiovisual technology and live meeting support.
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts, desktop troubleshooting, and mobile device support for iPhone and Android devices.
  • Experience managing geographically diverse operations is preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting, organizational, time management, communication, and service delivery skills.
  • Knowledge of ITIL or similar IT Service Management methodologies.
  • Willingness to provide occasional off-hours or weekend support for system upgrades, initiatives, or urgent needs.
  • Ability to lift and move PCs and monitors up to 50 lbs.

**The base salary will be estimated between $105k-$125K plus bonuses and benefits and contingent on relevant experience.
