TITLE: Extrusion Operator A



POSITION OBJECTIVE: A Extrusion Operator is responsible for their assigned shift. The Extrusion Operator is tasked with performing their assigned responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner, maintaining product run rate and quality, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.



QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Requires the ability to solve practical problems and be self-directed within the framework of the assigned job responsibilities.
  • Requires the ability to know when to ask for assistance when a problem arises that will affect the department performance.
  • Requires the ability to perform simple arithmetic functions consistently and accurately to include but not limited to the following: percentages, proportions, mass, volume, run rates, averages, and gauge readings.


  • Solid communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Requires the ability to communicate professionally with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Requires the ability to perform duties with minimal supervision.
  • Requires the ability to work varied shifts depending on organizational requirements and customer commitments.
  • Intermediate level computer skills.


  • Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.


  • Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.



JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Verifies blend changes done by department personnel.
  • Balances layers at changes; balances bubble.
  • Initiates maintenance work orders/requests when needed.
  • Completes production paperwork as required, accurately and timely.
  • Performs gauge changes and speed changes as required.
  • Initiates and participates in miscellaneous line problem solving.
  • Identifies and resolves issues that are affecting run rate and scrap generated.
  • Identifies and reports any scheduling issues to the Lead Operator and Department Manager.


  • Must be able to read and write English.



WORK ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS SUBJECTED TO IN THIS POSITION:



  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to extreme heat and high noise levels. Working on open air secured floor is also required.


  • While performing the duties of this job, the technician is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel material. This position requires the ability to see/hear warning alarms. This job also requires walking, stooping, climbing stairs, bending and twisting, and kneeling.
  • This position works a 12/hour shift. The schedule includes day and night work as well as weekends and holidays. It can also include overtime when needed
