Primary Purpose of the Organization:

The College provides guidance and accountability for its academic departments and support units as they seek to improve their academic programs through strategic planning, assessment, specialized accreditation, and program review.
Primary Purpose of the Position:
The position of Associate Dean will foster, promote, broaden, and maintain the academic excellence of the bachelor's degree, master's degree, and certificate-bearing programs. The Associate Dean position is a 12-month position. The Associate Dean reports to the Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, and he/she is a member of the CHSS leadership team. Under the general direction of the Dean of CHSS, the Associate Dean is responsible for the entire scope of planning, operations, and resource management for the College to ensure the smooth execution of the College's administrative, instructional, service, research, and operational functionalities. The Associate Dean must subscribe to the principle of shared governance and collegiality; must have a collaborative working style and the ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies.
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements:

  • Administrative experience in an accredited program. Ph.D. in an accredited program which falls under the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.
  • A record of excellence in teaching, research, and service equivalent to the rank of a tenured Associate Professor or full Professor.
  • Demonstrated success in academic administrative leadership. Experience with accreditation, and developing programs, and developing new programs preferred.
