Workshop Technician Apprentice

Scope of the job:

Workshop Technician Apprentice supports the assembly, disassembly, and testing of vacuum pumps under the guidance of experienced technicians and according to the weekly production plan. This role provides hands-on training in workshop operations, equipment maintenance, and testing procedures while developing technical skills and industry knowledge. The apprentice assists team members with troubleshooting activities and contributes to Corrective Action Reports as required.

Main Responsibilities:



  • Review HS2 documentation daily and develop an understanding of applicable safety requirements and procedures.
  • Learn and follow all safety requirements, including the proper use of PPE and compliance with BAM processes and procedures.
  • Support the team in meeting daily production targets related to quality, volume, and efficiency while learning production processes and priorities.
  • Learn to inspect parts, assemblies, and systems by following Work Instructions, drawings, schematics, and other technical documentation under guidance as needed.
  • Learn to verify calibrated tooling prior to use and follow established quality procedures.
  • Assist with leak testing activities and learn basic troubleshooting techniques for leak test failures.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures and complete assigned tasks as directed.
  • Promptly report issues to supervisors or experienced team members and seek assistance when needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with housekeeping practices and 6S standards.
  • Learn and follow established quality and time standards while contributing ideas for continuous improvement.
  • Complete required paperwork accurately and in accordance with work instructions, with guidance as needed.
  • Participate in SIM2 meetings and learn how to identify and communicate issues, observations, and improvement opportunities.
  • Learn and follow the Kanban system and material flow processes.
  • Learn and comply with VTPS rules and standards.
  • Actively participate in training and development opportunities to build technical knowledge and skills required for the Technician role.


Skills/Knowledge/Experience



  • Interest in pursuing a career in manufacturing or a similar technical field.
  • Interest in and willingness to learn to work with hand and power tools.
  • Basic PC literacy; experience with SAP is an advantage but not required.
  • Interest in learning how to read drawings, schematics, and published specifications.
  • Willingness to work shifts, flexibility with work schedules, attention to detail, and dependability.
