We are currently seeking a Security Specialist II (OPSEC) to support our NSWC customer in Crane, IN. The ideal candidate will be able to perform the following duties, as well as possess the following education and experience.

This role requires in-person support.

Duties:



  • Assist with overall administration of the OPSEC program.
  • Assist with preparing guidance, oversight and assessments for Command.
  • Compile annual OPSEC status for submission to NAVSEA.
  • Promote OPSEC program throughout the Command by interacting with OPSEC working group (OWG 22 members) and ensure OWG follows-through with assigned duties. This includes but not limited to:
  • Compliance with training requirements
  • Forwarding OPSEC alerts, messages and awareness communications initiated by OPSEC program manager and tasked to OWG.
  • Administration of OWG programmatic support requirements/needs
  • Support OPSEC program requirements to maintain its designation as a level II program.
  • Act as backup SME on all matters pertaining to OPSEC.
  • Assist with conducting annual OPSEC program self-inspections, maintain file copies of all material used for and produced by inspection for external inspection OQE.
  • Assist in the development of command wide risk assessments across all functional areas using the Enterprise Protection Risk Management (requires SIPR account).
  • Assist with integrating OPSEC into all applicable command activities. This requires increasing OPSEC advocacy on behalf of OPSEC program manager.
  • Conduct initial OPSEC awareness training during Onboarding. Facilitate annual OPSEC refresher training for all military, civilian, and seated contractor personnel.
  • Assist with (not approve or authorize) verification that all classified and unclassified contracts properly reflect OPSEC requirements and responsibilities.
  • Assist with developing OPSEC policy guidance for approval and signature by Command leadership.
  • Assist with compiling command Critical Information and Indicators List and annual update.
  • Support efforts by OPSEC program manager to mitigate potential OPSEC vulnerabilities and develop effective countermeasures.
  • Coordinate with the designated command security policy SMEs and Team Leads for integration of OPSEC with Personnel Security, Information Security, Physical Security, Industrial Security, Security Education and Training Awareness, Communications Security, and Anti-terrorism programs.
  • As applicable, participate (not approve or authorize) in the review process of official information considered for public release.
  • Provide outreach to NSWC CRANE personnel to foster OPSEC awareness among family members with the significance of protecting personal critical information.
  • Help maintain an OPSEC program continuity binder and a similar electronic repository.
  • Execute administrative duties for the foreign national escort badging requirement. Duties include:

    • Appointment coordination with foreign national hosts to distribute and collect escort lanyards and cards.
    • Recording foreign national visit details for tracking.




Desired Education:



  • Bachelors level degree


Desired Experience:



  • 5+ years of experience, education, or training that demonstrates the ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures. Applicants must demonstrate the ability or have endorsements that indicate the ability to learn and perform the cited position's duties.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of security classification methods, concepts, eligibility for access to classified or sensitive information and the process for granting personnel security clearances/accesses, and knowledge of commonly applied security principles, concepts, and methodologies in carrying out information, personnel, and physical security programs related to the protection of SCI.
  • Applicant should have knowledge of the methods of performing such duties as conducting inspections and investigations, collecting and analyzing information, etc., and skill in weighing the impact of variables such as critical personnel qualifications, variations in building construction characteristics, access and entry restrictions, equipment availability, and other issues that influence the course of actions taken in resolving security questions and issues.


Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
