Description
As a Strategic Client Manager, you will lead strategic business development efforts with complex, global accounts-often among our competitors' largest. You will be responsible for initiating and cultivating new relationships with Fortune 1000 companies, converting them into long-term, profitable partnerships for Steelcase, our channel partners, and our clients.
Working within the Global Client Collaboration (GCC) team, specifically the Low Share Practice, you will apply Steelcase research insights and best practices to address client business challenges. Your approach will prioritize solving business issues over selling furniture, positioning Steelcase as a strategic partner across the client's global enterprise.
As relationships mature, you will facilitate a smooth transition to the appropriate sales personnel for ongoing support and account management.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop a deep understanding of client business issues and tailor account strategies to differentiate Steelcase.
  • Build strategic relationships across client organizations, including senior leadership and C-suite stakeholders.
  • Coordinate globally across teams to ensure alignment and leverage Steelcase resources.
  • Use Steelcase research and insights to challenge client thinking and offer innovative solutions.
  • Pursue and win opportunities both domestically and internationally.
  • Understand pricing dynamics and develop effective pricing strategies for entry into new accounts.
  • Provide informal leadership to account selling teams.
  • Ensure a high level of client satisfaction and deliver an exceptional customer experience.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience in B2B sales, business development, dealer channel management, or related commercial experience.
  • Proven success in strategic sales and business development, preferably with global or Fortune 1000 clients.
  • Strong business development skills, with a focus on new client acquisition and growth.
  • Ability to operate like 'special ops' within global accounts-identifying and handling strategic, high-stakes opportunities.
  • Interest in contributing to a Center of Expertise-sharing knowledge and best practices across the broader sales organization.
  • Relationship maturity and confidence in engaging with senior leadership.
  • Understanding of the contract furniture industry (or more broadly, commercial interiors industry) and distribution models.
  • Curiosity and empathy to understand client challenges and deliver meaningful solutions.
  • Must be located or willing to relocate to New York City.

In compliance with New York City's Human Rights Law, the annual base salary range for this position is $150,000 - $234,400. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Steelcase considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
