The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience. Job Overview The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for performing duties independently following established and standardized procedures and methods referring questionable situations to physician. The NP provides primary health care through assessment, diagnosis, clinical judgment and management to restore, maintain and improve the health status of patients. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is a key member of the IOP Treatment Team , participating in the patients treatment planning meetings making recommendations to the team regarding admission, maintenance and discharge from the IOP. The NP provides psychiatric health care through evaluation and assessment, diagnosis, clinical judgement and medication management, counseling and education to restore, maintain and improve the psychiatric health status of patients. Schedule M-F 8:30am-5:00pm Job Qualifications/Education/Training/Certification/Licensure Master's degree in Nursing required APN License Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certification Registered Professional Nurse with current NJ state license CDS and DEA CPR certification Three to five years of work experience as a PMHNP Essential Functions Administers IM & SQ injections Documents patient progress notes, issues diagnostic orders and prescribed medications Assists with various counseling and education functions Billing for patient services based on CMS and NJ State Board Regulations Demonstrates satisfactory knowledge and judgment to provide appropriate care for patients Develops plan of care for patients in coordination with multidisciplinary team and completes appropriate reports to physicians and family Documents and maintains patient records of services provided according to facility and nursing standards Establishes a collaborative relationship with other medical providers Examines patients to determine presence of illness, utilizing physical findings, laboratory results, medical history, ascertains nature and extent of illness and prescribes treatments as indicated Interviews, instructs and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions Issues prescriptions to patients based on Federal & State Regulations Orders and reviews appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures Reviews all lab data and documents Participates in the development of protocols Performs and obtains a completed medical history and physical data on patients with appropriate documentation and findings Performs independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations Responsible for coordinating nursing and training programs on compliant for policies such as HIPPA, OSHA, Code of Conduct Works in collaboration with a physician to diagnose conditions as necessary Responsible for maintaining the quality and adequacy of nursing practice Reviews and audits charts routinely IOP/Outpatient NP performs all job specific requirements within the construct of the Outpatient Behavioral Health setting Universal Behavioral Competency Standards Customer Service/Patient Satisfaction - Provides a compassionate and supportive environment with prompt and consistent service Confidentiality - Adheres to patient rights: provides for the confidential treatment of all communications and records Professionalism - Demonstrates professionalism with families, visitors, physicians, co-workers and supervisors Communication - Listens and communicates effectively Teamwork - Supports teamwork by cooperative problem solving through participation in meetings, projects, etc Quality/ Performance Improvement - Utilizes principles of continuous quality improvement in all work situations to assess, measure and improve organizational and department functions Autonomy - Organizes work sets priorities with a minimum of supervision and seeks guidance as appropriate Accountability - Makes decisions that timely and consistent with department, objectives, policies and procedures Ownership - Demonstrates sound judgment; accepts and benefits from constructive criticism Professional Development Job Awareness - Participates in ongoing education as required At RWJBarnabas Health, our market-competitive Total Rewards package provides comprehensive benefits and resources to support our employees physical, emotional, social, and financial health.
