Job Summary

The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for performing shipping, receiving, inventory, and material handling activities to ensure the accurate movement of materials, supplies, equipment, and finished goods. This role verifies incoming shipments, prepares outgoing orders, maintains accurate records, operates material handling equipment, and supports warehouse operations while following established procedures and safety standards.

Job Responsibilities



  • Receive incoming materials, supplies, equipment, and finished goods.
  • Verify received items against shipping documentation and inspect shipments for accuracy and damage.
  • Gather, verify, package, and prepare materials for shipment according to specifications and transportation requirements.
  • Record all received and shipped items using written and computerized documentation.
  • Route materials, supplies, and equipment to inspection or designated stock locations.
  • Maintain accurate shipping, receiving, and inventory records.
  • Operate material handling equipment, including forklifts and hydraulic pallet jacks, in accordance with safety procedures.
  • Assist with inventory organization and material movement throughout the facility.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements



  • Minimum of one (1) year of shipping, receiving, warehouse, or related experience.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and other powered material handling equipment.
  • Forklift certification preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record may be required.
  • Basic reading, writing, math, and computer skills.
  • Knowledge of standard shipping and receiving procedures.
  • Effective verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to follow established procedures while handling routine tasks and resolving minor exceptions.


Education



  • High school diploma or equivalent required.


Work Experience



  • Minimum of one (1) year of related shipping, receiving, warehouse, or logistics experience required.
