$18.88 to $20.77 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. South Area/Valkaria Airport. Works schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Performs experienced office and service work administering and maintaining operations of a small general aviation airport. Work involves coordinating and participating in the maintenance of airport grounds, buildings, facilities, and equipment; operating, monitoring, and transmitting on the Common Traffic Advisory Frequency (CTAF) and Automated Weather Observation System (AWOS); inspecting and reporting on the condition of runways and hangars, airfield navigational aids (NAVAIDs), and other airport infrastructure; monitoring and maintaining the fuel farm and card reader system; handling cash transactions for fuel sales; and performing routine maintenance and custodial duties. Work also includes periodically covering the Administrative Building front desk, answering telephones, greeting tenants, customers, vendors, and federal and state officials, and responding to routine inquiries.



REQUIREMENTS: Two (2) years of experience in airport operations and maintenance, which includes experience with airport navigational aids (NAVAID), including the Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI), and associated support equipment; aviation fuel farm operation and repair; and the operation and maintenance of equipment including operation of zero-turn mowers, tractors and groundskeeping implements, automobiles, and tools utilized in maintaining a general aviation airport. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
