Our innovative platforms empower researchers in academic, government, biopharma, and CRO laboratories to rapidly and efficiently obtain deep biological insights that advance scientific discovery.

We are seeking a Sales Specialist based in the San Diego or Los Angeles area to join our growing team and support business growth across the Southwest United States. This is an exciting opportunity to build trusted customer relationships, develop new business, provide scientific and technical expertise, and equip customers to advance scientific discovery and achieve greater workflow efficiency.

Position Summary:

The Sales Specialist plays a key role in growing Cytek's Advanced Flow Cytometry business across the Southwest United States. This position develops new opportunities, expands existing accounts, and helps customers achieve meaningful scientific and workflow outcomes through Cytek's advanced instrumentation, software, and services.

Success requires scientific credibility, a deep understanding of customer needs, purposeful engagement, disciplined territory execution, reliable forecasting, and the ability to help customers make confident decisions and realize value from their systems sooner. The ideal candidate is motivated, self-directed, and confident leading complex capital-equipment sales involving multiple customer stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales and Business Development:

  • Identify, develop, and close new business opportunities across academic, government, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and CRO laboratories.
  • Achieve or exceed territory sales targets through effective prospecting, lead generation, and customer-focused value selling.
  • Strengthen and expand relationships with existing customers through ongoing support and the identification of new opportunities.
  • Lead in-person customer engagement across the territory, including discovery, stakeholder alignment, demonstrations, evaluations, and decision planning, to help customers move forward confidently and realize value sooner.
  • Succeed in a remote territory role by leading priorities, outcomes, and the customer experience from initial engagement through successful adoption.

Technical Expertise and Support:

  • Deliver clear, engaging technical presentations and product demonstrations that communicate the capabilities and benefits of Cytek's spectral flow cytometry technology.
  • Support customers after the sale through follow-up visits and coordination with Field Service and Applications teams to promote successful adoption and satisfaction.
  • Connect technical capabilities to customer workflows and measurable outcomes, communicating effectively with both scientific and executive stakeholders.

Territory Management:

  • Develop and execute strategic territory and account plans that support sustained sales growth, consistent pipeline creation, and opportunity progression.
  • Maintain accurate, timely records of sales activities, pipeline development, and customer interactions using CRM tools.
  • Establish a consistent territory cadence that prioritizes on-site customer engagement while maintaining reliable CRM and forecasting practices.
  • Use territory insights, customer commitments, and pipeline data to support effective business planning and execution.

Collaboration and Representation:

  • Partner with Field Applications Scientists, Field Service Engineers, and Marketing teams to understand customer needs and deliver a seamless customer experience.
  • Represent Cytek at industry conferences, trade shows, and regional meetings, including effective pre-event planning and post-event follow-up.

Market Insights and Reporting:

  • Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and customer feedback, including competitive learnings from the field.
  • Provide regular reports to management, offering insights to support strategic decision-making that strengthens our positioning, messaging, and territory strategy.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Biological Sciences, Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least five years of life-science sales experience.
    • Capital-equipment sales experience is highly valued.
  • At least three years of experience in flow cytometry, cell analysis, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of life-science accounts and laboratories across the Southwest United States.
  • Demonstrated success growing a territory, building a qualified pipeline, advancing complex opportunities, and achieving sales targets.
  • Strong pipeline-management and forecasting capabilities.
  • Ability to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly to technical and business audiences.
  • Strong discovery, presentation, negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience engaging laboratory users, scientific leaders, procurement professionals, and executive decision-makers.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and CRM systems.
  • Demonstrated success in a remote, self-directed role requiring strong organization, prioritization, and customer follow-through.
  • Ability to thrive in a field-based position requiring approximately 50-75% travel and regular on-site customer engagement.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • The individual must be able to travel via commercial airlines, trains, and rental vehicles to customer sites.
  • Ability to travel approximately 50-75% of the time, including air and ground transportation.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for prolonged periods during product demonstrations and events.
