Location: Based onsite in Pittsburgh, PA, with regular field visits.

Job Type: Full-Time

Shift Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. or 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Work hours may vary based on customer needs. Overtime may be required as needed.

Summary/ Objective:

The Material Management Solutions Field Specialist is responsible for supporting the ownership, implementation, and growth of IMS/SIMS service offerings by managing customer inventory programs, maintaining accurate product data, supporting replenishment processes, and delivering high-quality customer service while identifying opportunities for program expansion and additional sales growth.

Essential Functions:



  • Conduct on-site visits to customer storerooms and SIMS trailers to evaluate inventory levels and create replenishment orders using scanning systems and established min/max reorder levels.
  • Maintain accuracy of customer inventory systems by updating product information, bin locations, and product labeling.
  • Organize and set up inventory based on customer preferences and operational requirements.
  • Stock materials on customer shelves as required.
  • Facilitate customer requests and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Communicate effectively with the SIMS team and other internal resources regarding customer needs, project updates, or service requirements.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key customer personnel including project managers, supervisors, purchasing agents, electricians, and storeroom staff.
  • Document sales calls and customer interactions, including feedback and opportunities for improvement.
  • Identify opportunities to promote additional company services and expand participation in inventory management programs.
  • Collaborate with account sales representatives to evaluate non-program products for potential inclusion in the inventory program.
  • Support add-on sales initiatives to increase overall sales and profitability.
  • Follow up on open orders, bids, and credits until completion.
  • Develop working knowledge of project coordination, job-site conditions, material scheduling, and SIMS-related project management.
  • Maintain required safety standards while working at customer facilities and job sites.
  • Continue ongoing education regarding electrical products, applications, and solutions.

Work Environment:

This position operates primarily in the field and on customer sites, with a portion of time spent visiting customer locations, job sites, storerooms, trailers, branches, warehouses, and attending meetings. The role involves frequent interaction with customers, contractors, and internal teams and may include exposure to active construction, warehouse, or industrial environments while on-site. This position requires the use of standard office equipment, including computers, internet systems, smartphones, handheld scanning devices, and photocopiers.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have:



  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching while stocking or organizing inventory.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, carry, and move materials consistent with typical inventory handling requirements.
  • Ability to use a keyboard and type proficiently
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

  • Regular use of handheld scanning devices and mobile equipment.


Travel:

Some overnight travel is required and the employee can reasonably expect on average 20% overnight travel to meet the demands of the position.

Education and Experience:



  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Two years' experience in construction, electrical distribution, inventory management, or sales experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills required, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Prior experience working in customer-facing or field service environments preferred.
