Veterinary Medicine & Surgery Job Description
The College of Veterinary Medicine at MU is on a mission to educate and train outstanding clinicians and scientists, generate new knowledge, engage stakeholders, and foster economic growth, all of which promote and protect the health and welfare of animals and people. Simply put, our mission is to Teach, Heal, Discover and Serve. We are seeking candidates for a Veterinary Assistant position working with our Ophthalmology service. The position will serve to assist clinical faculty in patient care, client communication and clinical teaching in the Ophthalmology section of the Veterinary Health Center. The service provides referral services to practicing veterinarians in Missouri and the surrounding states and provides complete veterinary ophthalmology diagnostic, medical, and surgical services for companion animals, food animals, and equine species. Typical duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Veterinarians throughout the Midwest refer animal clients to the Veterinary Health Center for specialized diagnoses and treatment. With sophisticated therapeutic equipment that includes an underwater treadmill, advanced imaging techniques, and state of the art sophisticated machinery to perform vision saving cataract surgery, we are a center for animal healthcare. This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday during typical business hours. Start time is 7:30a on Tuesdays and Thursday, with the start time on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday flexible between either 7:30a or 8a. Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in a veterinary medical setting is highly desirable. Successful candidates will exhibit the following skills and competencies:
