Summary:

The Fetal Care Program Manager is responsible for the operational and clinical coordination of the Fetal Care Program across inpatient, outpatient, procedural, and surgical settings. This role partners closely with the Fetal Therapy Medical Director, physicians, nursing, and hospital leadership to ensure seamless, high-quality, patient-centered care for complex fetal patients. The position emphasizes clinical expertise, program/referral coordination, quality improvement, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities:
Clinical and Patient Care Coordination:
*Ensures that appropriate care and services are available to patients and families undergoing fetal diagnostic and therapeutic fetal procedures (fetoscopy, fetal surgery, intrauterine transfusion, etc.).
*Facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration in patient care planning within scope of Fetal Care program.
*Ensures appropriate in-patient OR and outpatient staffing and procedural orientation for patient care.
*Maintains an environment conducive to safe and effective patient care by facilitating multidisciplary collaboration.
*Collaborates with nursing staff in the Women's and Children's Hospital ORs, outpatient prenatal diagnosis and MFM clinics, Labor and Delivery and antepartum inpatient units. Coordinates interdisciplinary care teams (Social work, Children's Surgical team, Fetal Care MD/team and other specialty services) to provide the necessary care for high-risk OB clients.
*Facilitates delivery planning with obstetrics and NCCC teams.
*Work with fetal surgeon(s) to develop and maintain operational protocols to ensure program continuity, redundancy, and resilience - mitigating single point-of-failure risks.
*Anticipate overseeing at least 1 additional clinical staff member (RN or equivalent) as program volume expands.
*Coordinator with OR and L&D teams fetal therapy specific instrumentation
Referral Management and Patient Navigation:
*Manages high volume referrals from regional physicians.
*Coordinates 2nd opinions and transfer of care.
*Maintains open line of communication with referring providers.
*Serves as the primary contact for patients and families for all appts and nurse triage needs with excellent customer service prioritized.
*Coordinate all fetal center consultations and diagnostic testing such as US, labs, MRI, fetal echocardiography, genetic testing, etc.
*Ensures timely access to maternal-fetal medicine and pediatric sub-specialists.
*Assists with insurance/prior authorization and liaisons with financial navigation team for financial assistance.

Data/Analytics/Research:
* Works with QI team to assist in collecting and collating patient outcomes data.
* Facilitates and participates in process improvement and clinical trials/fetal therapy research projects such as the Azealea. Maintains database of all fetal care procedures with support from the QI team.
* Tracks and reports procedure volume trends and program financial performance metrics in collaboration with QI team and hospital administration.
Quality Improvement:
* Facilitates and participates in quality improvement initiatives focusing on fetal care.
* Works with fetal surgeon(s) to ensures compliance with fetal care standards
* Works with marketing team to maintain program webpages with relevant and up to date information.
* Attends fetal therapy conferences and case reviews. Present fetal center outcomes at conferences or in publications.
Program Development and Accreditation:
* Works with fetal surgeon(s) to ensure that internal and external regulatory standards are met or exceeded. This includes organizational policy and procedure, as well as, state, Joint Commission, IBCLE, and other accreditation bodies, as applicable. Supports accreditation and national program participation (e.g. NAFTNET and Fetal Health Foundation).
* Monitors and manages program capacity to support sustained volume growth
* Identifies and implements workflow optimization to maximize throughput that does not sacrifice excellent, high-quality care and patient experience.
* Support clinical development of additional fetal therapy nursing team members.

Education Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Nursing required
* Masters degree in Nursing, Public Health, Education, Social Work, or related field preferred
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
* Active RN license (NC or compact), required
* Relevant maternal-child, obstetric, or fetal care experience required
Professional Experience Requirements:
* Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in maternal-fetal medicine, high-risk obstetrics, women's health, or a related specialty (pediatric or fetal surgical conditions)
* Previous experience in a hospital setting is required and OR experience preferred
* Experience working within multidisciplinary clinical teams in a hospital or academic medical center environment preferred
* Demonstrated experience in program coordination, care coordination, or clinical operations
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
* Strong clinical judgment and understanding of complex care coordination
*Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
*Ability to manage complex workflows without direct supervisory responsibility
*Highly organized, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-growing clinical program
