STATUS: On Call/Temporary

MISSION STATEMENT

Under the direction of the Program Director, the Residence Manager is responsible for the management of the men's residence facility and beneficiaries. As a team member in the Rehabilitation area, he promotes a climate for effective performance and learning through his attitudes, willingness to teach and learn and availability to beneficiaries and staff. Encouragement is given to the individual to continue to seek experience and training which will enhance his ability to work more effectively with beneficiaries.

Qualifications:



  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Program graduate with continuing involvement in a program of recovery is desirable, but not required.
  • Ability to supervise beneficiaries as revealed by experience, training, and/or interview.
  • Preferred: possession of valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record; ability to acquire the license within 45 days is acceptable.
  • Integrity, resourcefulness, initiative and evidence of self-improvement.
  • No evidence of existing chemical dependency.
  • If chemically dependent, shall be free of and have had at least one year free of any chemical abuse or
  • Demonstrate ability to support and apply the philosophy and goals of The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Program as stated in the Mission Statement.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check.


Responsibilities:

FACILITY MANAGEMENT



  • Ensure proper maintenance of grounds and buildings, scheduling needed repairs and other maintenance work within guidelines provided by the City Command.
  • Provide routine supervision of residence desk, canteen, laundry, and janitorial staff including such training as needed in canteen operations, laundry operations, proper phone procedures and customer relations for deskmen, and appropriate safety requirements for cleaning supplies.
  • Supervise inside or outside workmen for special projects or repairs.
  • Drive a Salvation Army passenger Mini-Bus as part of his duties.
  • Transport beneficiaries to and from other Center approved functions.
  • Provide services as a driver as required in the normal course of duties at the Center.
  • Keep a current list of needed supplies for proper operation of the residence


BENEFICIARY SUPERVISION



  • Monitor, facilitate, supervise beneficiary activities including prescription medications, house meetings and devotions.
  • Provide recreational programming for residents. Participate in all activities at the residence, maintaining open relationships with all of the residents.
  • Supervise and/or administer Breathalyzer testing when requested by Rehabilitation Services staff or when beneficiaries return to the residence.
  • Supervise collection of urine test specimens, ensuring that proper security procedures are adhered to including labeling and transport.
  • Lead 12 Step Meeting, Groups and Orientation as required.
  • Act as a role model for beneficiaries, both as a resident of the ARC and as a man in recovery, in personal dress and in general behavior.
  • Make security rounds each evening before retiring.
  • Maintain good order and discipline without favoritism in accordance with policies.
  • In cooperation with the Program Coordinator, discharge when appropriate those beneficiaries whose behavior warrants such a consequence.
  • Maintain necessary records and statistics as directed.
  • Maintain duty driver list ensuring availability of drivers for required functions
  • Know ARP Safety Regulations for the residence and ensure that staff and beneficiaries follow these safety requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with established policies and laws in order to help maintain the integrity of the total program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator or Corps Officer.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach with hands and arms on a continuous basis. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must have the ability to operate telephone, a desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
