Position Overview:
The Service Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining motorcoaches and other commercial vehicles. This role performs a wide range of mechanical and electrical repairs on diesel-powered motorcoaches and commercial vehicles, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain motorcoaches, commercial and non-commercial vehicles, and other equipment as directed.
- Follow Cummins warranty processes and procedures, including proper documentation and claim requirements.
- Interpret and apply technical manuals, service bulletins, and repair guidelines.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment free from hazards and unnecessary distractions.
- Understand and adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including EPA, OSHA, and DOT requirements.
- Accurately document repairs on work orders using shop computers and associated software.
- Maintain accurate time and attendance records.
- Perform road calls when required, including travel to customer locations to diagnose and perform repairs.
- Maintain a valid DOT Medical Card as required.
- Continue developing technical knowledge and repair skills to support shop operations.
- Demonstrate professionalism while upholding ABC's core values.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 2-4 years of diesel, motorcoach, transit bus, or heavy commercial vehicle repair experience preferred.
- Diesel engine repair experience required
- Motorcoach or transit bus experience preferred
- CNG experience preferred, including knowledge of CNG fuel systems and troubleshooting CNG engines
- Ability to perform troubleshooting and diagnostics to identify mechanical and electrical repair needs
- Ability to interpret technical manuals and service documentation
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple repair tasks and priorities
- Must possess the tools necessary to complete assigned responsibilities
- Experience with body and frame repairs
- Experience with interior component repair or replacement
- Audio/Video system knowledge preferred but not required
- Ability to identify parts required to complete vehicle repairs
- CDL Class B preferred but not required
- EPA 609 Certification preferred but not required
