CLIENT/DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:
The International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society is a non-profit medical professional society of approximately 12,000 influential clinicians, scientists, and other healthcare professionals from around the world dedicated to improving the care of patients with Parkinson's disease and movement disorders through education and research.
JOB OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the MDS Director of Scientific Engagement, this position provides support and project management for the growing advocacy and outreach aspects of the organization and ensures effective operation of the volunteer database and online community platform. Position maintains a high level of responsibility and must maintain confidentiality, exercising discretion and sound independent judgment in performing assigned tasks. Ideal candidate will have impeccable communication skills, a high attention to detail, is organized, and adaptable to changing needs.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES (minimum of 37.5 hours/week):
  • Develop and maintain operational workflows for growing advocacy and outreach initiatives, including but not limited to the MDS Patient and Carers Group, and the Committee on Equality of Access to Care.
  • Maintain accuracy and integrity of the volunteer database and webpages for committees, task forces, study groups, and other working groups
  • Implementation and ongoing administrative support for online community tools for the Society's working groups
  • Support staff with MDS committees and groups as needed to achieve objectives, including, but not limited to, development of reports, agendas, minutes, timelines, action plans, correspondence, and other presentation materials, as needed
  • Serve as the primary staff liaison for additional assigned groups, supporting volunteer engagement, coordination, and effective communication between the group and the organization through process, internal staff collaboration, and strong project management.
  • Oversee development and deployment of volunteer interest forms to the Society membership
  • Oversee the deployment of the biannual term rotation process for committees, study groups, and special interest groups
  • Work with internal departments (IS, TS, CS, Mail, Accounting, etc.) as needed for MDS projects.
  • Serve as primary contact for patients asking questions about the organization
  • Carry out other related responsibilities as assigned
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communications skills. Project management skills. Computer proficiency and ability to manage and juggle multiple projects. Attention to detail and accuracy. Able to work successfully in a team environment. Proficient in Windows, MS Word, and MS Excel. Experience with MS PowerPoint and iMIS and/or MS Access a plus.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree preferred.

TRAVEL REQUIRED:
Up to 2 weeks per year, and may include some international travel.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This is a full-time position located in our office in downtown Milwaukee, WI and a minimum of two days onsite in the office (including Wednesday as an all-staff-in-office day) are a requirement of the role.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: (lifting, packaging, etc.)
Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds may be required.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Some early morning/evening and weekend work may be required. Attendance at the annual meeting is required. Occasional morning or evening conference calls are required.
