This APP opportunity offers a distinctive blend of ED Observation Medicine, Main Emergency Department practice, Rapid Medical Evaluation, and academic collaboration within UVA Health's nationally recognized clinical environment. As an Advanced Practice Provider in the Emergency Department, you will care for patients across a broad range of acuity levels with a primary focus on UVA's APP-lead ED Observation Unit. This is an excellent opportunity for a PA or NP seeking progressive autonomy, strong attending physician support, exposure to diverse emergency presentations, and the opportunity to help grow an innovative observation medicine service. The Role In this role, you will spend most of your clinical time in the ED Observation Unit, where APPs serve as primary providers managing patients through evidence-based pathways that promote high-quality care while avoiding unnecessary admissions. You will also rotate through the Main ED and Rapid Medical Evaluation areas, gaining exposure to high-acuity emergency medicine, procedural care, and collaborative decision-making in a busy academic environment. Providers practice alongside emergency medicine residents, fellows, attending physicians, nurses, 24/7 emergency medicine clinical pharmacists, case managers, and consultants in a collaborative academic setting that values teaching, evidenced based care, and continous professional growth. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master's degree. Experience: Department and unit specific. Licensure: License or license eligible as an Advance Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Associate, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, and Certified Nurse Midwife) as set forth by the state of Virginia. If Nurse Practitioner, license to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required. Must demonstrate and maintain all credentialing and licensing requirements of UVA Health System, the Virginia Board of Medicine or the Virginia Board of Nursing, and appropriate certifying bodies. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Current PALS/NRP, as required, specific to position. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required, specific to position. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50 - 100lbs. May be exposed to noise, radiation, radioactive materials, blood/body fluids and infectious disease. The pay range for this role is $129,323.00 - $185,265.60 annually.
