The people and technology that power our Group business work is the Employee Benefit Solutions Technology (EBST) organization within Enterprise Technology. As a member of the COMET (Client Onboarding and Medical Underwriting Engineering Team), you will contribute to the development and support of systems that enable client onboarding, medical underwriting workflows, and employee benefits administration.

The COMET team supports business critical platforms used daily by underwriters and client implementation teams. These systems must remain stable, scalable, and reliable, particularly during peak periods such as Open Enrollment. This role is well suited for an engineer early in their career who has strong technical aptitude, a solid foundation in software engineering fundamentals, and an interest in growing their development skills, including development in a low-code environment such as the Pega Platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Configure and enhance workflows, rules, and user interface components within a lowcode workflow platform
  • Support & enhance Javabased systems
  • Assist with troubleshooting, defect resolution, and delivering enhancements in existing application(s), under guidance from experienced engineers
  • Learn how business processes, workflow design, and data quality impact client onboarding and medical underwriting outcomes
  • Collaborate with product owners, analysts, quality engineers, and other developers to deliver incremental improvements

Required Qualifications

  • Strong technical aptitude with a foundation in software engineering or computer science concepts (through education or handson experience)
  • Exposure to Java or objectoriented programming, with interest in deepening handson development skills over time
  • Willingness and ability to learn new technologies quickly, including lowcode development platforms such as Pega
  • Basic understanding of how enterprise applications support business processes and integrate with other systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues, follow guidance, and incorporate feedback through collaboration and code reviews
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, curiosity, and a growth mindset in a complex domain

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pega CSA certification or equivalent handson experience
  • Exposure to frontend or fullstack development, with interest in expanding these skills as applications evolve
  • Exposure to SQL or relational databases for basic data investigation
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development environments

The estimated base pay range for this job is:

$55,700.00 - $103,400.00
