Description

Brown and Caldwell (BC) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Architect to join our Architectural team. We are a growing team in a growing market, focused on designing facilities related to water, wastewater, and environmental infrastructure.

The Senior Architect position performs our full scope of architectural services including concept design, building code analysis reports, construction drawings and specifications, detailing, and support during permitting, bidding, and construction.

More specifically, the successful candidate will work on various projects for municipal, technology, indus-trial, and federal clients. The candidate will work with civil, structural, mechanical, process and electrical engineers on projects for facilities primarily serving the water and wastewater industries. Project work includes: conceptualizing and implementing architectural designs; directing architectural BIM/Revit model creation and drawing production efforts; developing architectural standard details and specifications; and engaging in multi-disciplinary coordination. The successful candidate will enjoy working in a collaborative, multi-discipline environment to develop innovative, cost-effective designs for new facilities, expansions, upgrades and retrofits.

Remote work is allowed from Mountain and Pacific time zones; the ideal candidate will be located near one of our offices for occasional in-person collaboration.

Responsibilities



  • Develops plans for building design and detailed specifications to ensure project plans are met.
  • Reviews regulatory codes to ensure project compliance and mitigate risk.
  • Conducts detailed investigation of current conditions, prepares documentation and reports.
  • Coordinates and reviews disciplines in an integrated project approach to help ensure all aspects of design and implementation are cohesive and aligned.
  • Provides recommendations and consults on building materials selection.
  • Ensures building and site aesthetics are incorporated within the design and are based on project requirements.
  • Provides construction support, review of shop drawings and prepares RFIs and addendum.
  • Flexibility to adapt and execute various additional assignments based on evolving needs.
  • Participate in and maintain the AXP (Architectural Experience Program) documentation.


Mentorship



  • May provide mentorship, guidance, support, and knowledge-sharing to help less experienced team members develop their skills and grow within their roles.


Skills and Competencies



  • Advanced knowledge of planning and executing building designs and materials.
  • Demonstrate advanced competency project management techniques and coordination tools.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with colleagues and third parties, providing guid-ance and instruction when necessary.
  • Advanced experience in documentation, reporting, discipline coordination, and problem-solving.
  • Ability to prepare for and take architectural licenses exams.


Experience



  • Typically requires minimum of 5 years of architecture experience or other related experience.
  • Experience in planning and executing building designs.
  • Typically will become certified in BC's Subject Matter Specialist (SMS) Framework and progress through the SMS competencies.


Preferred Experience



  • 10+ years of architecture experience.
  • Project Architect experience - taking lead on design, coordination, and technical deliverables.
  • Proficiency in Revit and Bluebeam.
  • Proficiency of construction documents (drawings and specifications), with a strong understanding of construction detailing, building science and building systems.
  • Proficient in building codes; and knowledge of national standards.
  • Passion for design excellence, collaboration and willingness to learn.
  • Experience in creating redlines, reviewing milestones, and managing junior staff.


Education



  • A degree in Architecture, or related field or equivalent experience is required.
  • The role shall have completed the AXP (Architectural Experience Program) process and has achieved or is working towards achieving professional license.


Preferred Education



  • Registered Architect.


Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location A: $85,000 - $116,000
Location B: $94,000 - $128,000
Location C: $102,000 - $140,000
