General Maintenance

Our facilities department is looking for a General Maintenance Tech to join our busy team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the maintenance department in a variety of tasks including material handling, inspections and preventative maintenance, documentation and utilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for hazardous waste handling, wash equipment service, machine and central coolant system service, mist collector system services and PM services on machinery and equipment.
• Handles a variety of chemicals and oils, including hazardous wastes. Utilizes proper PPE and equipment. Ensures proper labeling per state and federal requirements.
• Maintain necessary maintenance records. Detect and report unusual conditions and special problems to proper supervisor. Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations. Keep work area in clean and orderly condition.
• Support building improvement projects including plumbing, carpentry, painting and similar duties. May require forklift operation.
• Perform general maintenance including cleaning, sweeping, trash removal, mopping of oil - to ensure a clean and safe environment.
• Available to work planned and emergency overtime and participates in a rotating weekend on-call schedule.

Job Skills and Abilities:

• Basic computer skills required e.g. sending emails, utilizing CMMS software via tablet or desktop.
• Ability to work independently, or as a part of a team with internal and external partners.
• Communicates effectively with written and verbal direction.
• Safely operates hand tools and basic power tools.

Education and Experience:

• HS Diploma or GED.
• Basic carpentry, plumbing, and painting experience a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, grabbing, twisting, carrying, pushing and pulling.
• Must be able to lift up to 40lbs.
