Role and Responsibilities:
- Audit and Update Controls: Assist with internal audits, actuarial valuations (ACTVAL), annual plan audits and participate in Pension Administrator reviews. Evaluate audit findings and recommend enhancements to internal controls based on findings.
- Case Resolution: Investigate and resolve escalated bargaining unit (BU) cases from the Pension Administrator, UAW and other stakeholders. Analyze complex pension issues and propose accurate, timely resolutions to ensure cases are closed efficiently.
- Verify and Maintain Records: Audit credited service records, contribution history, and deferred vested eligibility determinations. Ensure Pension Administrator records are accurately maintained and updated based on audit results.
- Group Legal Services: Audit eligibility records and process annual payment per the UAW Contract.
- UAW Pension Board: Serve on the UAW Pension Board of Administration, review materials for accuracy and coordinate monthly meeting documentation.
- UAW Negotiations Support: Assist with UAW negotiations and serve on the R&S Pension Subcommittee.
- UAW International Support: Respond and resolve pension inquiries and issues from International UAW.
- Vendor Management: Support vendor management activities for the Pension Administrator including service level agreement monitoring and invoicing.
- Pension Communications: Support drafting, review, and distribution of pension related communications to Union Benefit Representatives (UBRs), retirees and deferred vested participants.
- PTD Retirement Administration: Manage Permanent and Total Disability (PTD) retirement administration including preparation of PTD approval and denial letters and PTD claim and appeal letters.
- Hardships: Review and process hardship applications providing recommendations to the UAW.
- Legal Compliance: Support compliance with ERISA, IRC and SOX requirements.
- Support: Back up support for defined contribution payments.
- Special Programs: Support special separation programs for bargaining and non-bargaining units.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum of three years of experience in Pension Administration, Finance, Accounting, Defined Benefit Plan Auditing, Actuarial Services, Human Resources or Labor Relations
- Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to analyze data problem-solve, and provide recommendations for resolving issues
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills
- Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively
- Inquisitive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and innovative problem-solving
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply provisions of plan documents accurately
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or a related field and/or Master's degree
- Pension Audit Experience: Experience auditing defined benefit plans
- Defined Benefit Plan Administration: Experience administering defined benefit plans
- Payment Recalculation: Ability to recalculate defined benefit plan pension payments to verify accuracy and address discrepancies
- Research: Skilled in researching credited service and other pension related records, identifying issues and proposing resolution
