Sr. Economists for American Institutes for Research. May work remotely but report to our HQ location in Arlington, VA. Develop conceptual frameworks + experimental designs that guide project work. Manage + analyze large-scale data files for research. Serve as client contact for analytical + statistical research expertise. Perform policy analysis. Develop case studies. Conduct site visits. Make presentations to government clients. Provide leadership in initiating business development activities for current and new clients. Design appropriate work assignments in accordance with project scope + assume responsibility for the quality of the work assigned to others. Identify potential opportunities through environmental scans. May undergo background checks. Little national + international travel to conferences + client sites is involved; travel not to exceed 60 days per year or 5 days per trip. Must have PhD in Economics, Public Policy, or related Social Science field and 2 years of relevant experience in analytical or statistical research. Requires the following skills (2 years experience) in: STATA; analysis of large-scale data sets, and the design of experiments and quasi-experiments; and quantitative research on policy-relevant topics using advanced methods such as fixed effects, regression discontinuity, or instrument variables.
