Summary of Job Duties:The Graduate Assistant (GA) for Food Programs in the Center for Community Engagement will assist in co-advising the Jane B. Gearhart Full Circle Food Pantry and Razorback Food Recovery (RFR) teams of the Volunteer Action Center. The GA will help student leaders with volunteer management for both programs and continually improve upon processes that center feeding university and Northwest Arkansas communities. Additionally, the GA will provide developmental advising to student leaders informed by theory with the goal of supporting personal and programmatic success. They will oversee weekly one on one meetings with team leadership, attend weekly board meetings, attend weekly Center for Community Engagement meetings, and assist in supporting the practical operations of both teams. The GA will also be responsible for supporting and managing collaborations with both community and campus partnerships. The GA will report to full-time staff in the Center for Community Engagement.

A typical week in this position will often involve advising students in one-on-one meetings, attending standing meetings, supporting pantry operations by serving clients, and supporting RFR operations by recovering and distributing food on and off-campus. This position is a 12-month role beginning in the fall.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education

  • Enrollment in a graduate degree-seeking program at the University of Arkansas

  • A GPA no lower than a 3.0

  • Valid Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree programs in Higher Education Administration, Public Administration, Public Health, Counseling, or Social Work

  • Experience with community engagement programming, community support services, event coordination, student activities, and/or student organizations

Compensation & Benefits:

  • 2026-2027 Master's 12 months - $19,260; PhD 12 months - $23,100

  • Tuition paid - A 50% graduate assistantship and six hours of credit class is considered full-time graduate status

Hours and Schedule:

  • The position is designed to be a 20 hour per week in-person commitment.

  • Weekly office hours are set by Graduate Assistant with flexible scheduling based on academic commitments.

  • Weekly office hours typically worked between 8am-5pm, Thursday evening board meetings until 6pm, and some pre-scheduled events outside of business hours.

  • Hours determined on a semesterly basis and flexible around academic commitments.

  • Mandatory GA training required in August, 1 week prior to Fall Semester classes starting.

Employment Timeline:

  • Start date is August 10, 2026.

  • This position is eligible for continuous employment as a Graduate Assistant, contingent upon satisfactory performance and continued academic enrollment.
