Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership * Lead and supervise teams of cable technicians and subcontractors * Assign daily tasks, track progress, and ensure work meets safety, quality, and schedule requirements * Serve as the primary escalation point for technical issues and troubleshooting * Mentor junior technicians and promote bestpractice installation standards Inside Plant (ISP) - Data Center Cabling * Install, terminate, label, and test copper and fiber cabling (Cat6/6A, singlemode & multimode) * Build and maintain data center cabling systems, including: * MDA, HDA, and EDA architectures * Overhead ladder rack and underfloor pathways * Cabinets, racks, patch panels, and fiber enclosures * Perform fiber splicing (fusion preferred), testing, and certification (OTDR, power meter) * Maintain proper bend radius, cleanliness, labeling, and airflow best practices Outside Plant (OSP) - Fiber Infrastructure * Oversee installation and maintenance of OSP fiber systems, including: * Conduit, innerduct, handholes, and vaults * Underground and aerial fiber routes (as applicable) * Coordinate splicing, testing, documentation, and route validation * Interface with customers, carriers, and construction partners during OSP activities Standards, Quality & Safety * Ensure all work complies with: * TIA942, ANSI/TIA, and BICSI standards * Data center and clientspecific installation guidelines * Enforce safety policies, including PPE, ladder/lift usage, and confinedspace awareness * Conduct quality inspections and correct deficiencies as needed Documentation & Coordination * Maintain accurate asbuilt documentation, labeling, and test results * Participate in walkthroughs, project closeouts, and turnover meetings * Collaborate with project managers, network engineers, data center operations, and customers * Support Moves, Adds, and Changes (MACs) in live production environments Required Qualifications * 5+ years of structured cabling experience in data centers or critical facilities * 2+ years in a lead or supervisory role * Strong knowledge of ISP and OSP cabling systems * Handson experience with fiber splicing, testing, and certification * Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and fiber route maps * Experience in colocation or hyperscale data center environments * Strong leadership, communication, and troubleshooting skills Preferred Certifications * BICSI Technician (TECH) or Installer/Technician * BICSI Outside Plant (OSP) * ETA Fiber Optic Technician (FOT) * OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 * Manufacturer certifications (Corning, CommScope, Panduit, Leviton - plus) Physical & Work Requirements * Ability to lift up to 50 lbs * Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and elevated cable trays * Ability to work in largescale data centers with raised floors and overhead pathways * Willingness to work nights, weekends, or afterhours maintenance windows as required Work Environment * Missioncritical data center facilities * Active production environments requiring strict changecontrol adherence * Indoor and outdoor work supporting both ISP and OSP infrastructure Core Skills * Fiber optic cabling (SM/MM) * CAT5 / CAT6 structured cabling * Data center environments * Project and crew leadership * Fiber splicing and terminations * Patch panels, punchdown, conveyance systems * Blueprint and schematic interpretation Additional Competencies Technical & Operational * Deep knowledge of data center physical layer architecture and redundancy (A/B paths, diverse routing) * Experience with carrier demarcation points, meetme rooms (MMRs), and crossconnects * Familiarity with DCIM tools and ticketing/changemanagement systems * Ability to troubleshoot fiber attenuation, polarity issues, and connector contamination Project & Team Leadership * Proven ability to lead crews across multiple projects or shifts * Strong task prioritization and time management in fastpaced environments * Effective coordination with PMs, engineers, carriers, and facilities teams Documentation & Compliance * Strong attention to detail for labeling, test reporting, and asbuilt documentation * Experience delivering work packages aligned with SLAs and audit requirements * Knowledge of MOPs, SOPs, and data center security protocols Communication & Safety * Professional, customerfacing communication skills * Ability to explain technical concepts to nontechnical stakeholders * Strong commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence * Experience working under OSHA, NEC, and local code requirements Experience Level: Expert / Lead Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Mesa, AZ.
