Purpose

The Human Resource Coordinator is a member of a small, dynamic team that supports the human resources functions of the UT Libraries through inclusive and intentional processes focused on accuracy, excellence, and fairness. The HR Coordinator manages recruitment and a variety of employee lifecycle processes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead strategic efforts in UT Libraries recruiting, ensuring a consistent, welcoming, and compliant process that supports UT's mission of hiring a dynamic workforce. This includes facilitating and serving on searches, overseeing the application process, working closely with the search committees and hiring managers on all matters, overseeing the interview scripts and schedules, and making final offers that are fair and competitive.

  • Manage appointment actions in Workday for staff including additional duties increases, reclassifications, transfers, equity increases, reporting line updates, and other employee life cycle events. Serve as liaison with other UT departments including UT Human Resources and Payroll. Be knowledgeable and well-versed in the nuance of policies around leave management, usage, and accrual. Support FMLA, Sick Leave Pool, unpaid statuses, and other specialized leave issues. Oversee FWA processes and documentation.

  • Oversee employee onboarding, including facilitating the Onboarding Buddy Program, ensuring a smooth and friendly onboarding experience for new hires.

  • Advise managers and leaders in the organization on sensitive and critical HR processes or situations. Serve as a resource to all staff for generalized HR needs.

  • Responsible for oversight and retention efforts of personnel files, ensuring compliance, discretion, and timely handling of information. Create and oversee processes across multiple platforms around the UTL HR Office's record-keeping.

  • Special projects as assigned. Support the Head of HR with unique or sensitive requests.

Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree. At least 2 years of experience in human resources or a related position. Can include customer service, retail, or other people-centered work experience.

  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated attention to detail.

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize between multiple workflows.

  • Demonstrated evidence of strong interpersonal skills and effective communication skills (both written and verbal).

  • Ability to be discrete and empathetic in sensitive situations

  • Demonstrated ability to employ an approach that values different backgrounds, experiences, identities, and perspectives.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience handling sensitive information.

  • Familiarity with UT Austin HR policies, procedures, and systems, including Workday.

  • Experience handling physical and/or digital files.

  • UT Human Resources Essentials certificate

Salary Range

$55,000 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

Standard office conditions.

Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.

Work Shift

Monday - Friday, flexible schedule available between the hours of 7 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Flexible work arrangement with two remote days a week available after initial onboarding.

Employment Eligibility:

Retirement Plan Eligibility:

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
