Job Description




As a Security Officer Patrol Examiner in Los Angeles, CA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. Join Allied Universal as an Unarmed Patrol Officer at a shelter location, where you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, remain visible to help discourage security-related incidents, and support staff and visitors with outstanding customer service and communication. In this people-first role, you will bring a reliable presence, work as part of a team, and act with integrity while responding to day-to-day site needs.

What You'll Do:

    Provide customer service by carrying out site-specific procedures, following posted policies, and supporting emergency response activities when appropriate at a shelter location.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, documenting details and communicating with staff and/or local responders as needed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the property, including common areas, entrances, exits, and perimeter spaces, to help identify unusual activity and security-related concerns.
  • Monitor access to the location by observing visitors, checking authorized entry points, and reporting suspicious behavior and/or policy violations to site contacts.
  • Support a respectful environment for residents, guests, and staff by giving directions, answering questions, and reporting maintenance, hazard, and security-related issues observed during patrols.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of security-related experience is required.
  • A guard card and/or license is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
