Design Release Engineer - Power Liftgate Sensors

The Engineer will be responsible for system and component design and release activities for the Power liftgate Handsfree kick sensor and the Power Liftgate Anti-Pinch Sensors and associated hardware. The scope includes both mechanical and electrical/electronic components. Responsibilities encompass endtoend product development, from concept through validation and production release.

Key duties include designing components to meet vehicle functional, performance, and packaging requirements using a DFSS methodology; leading DVPdriven product development and validation activities; performing structural engineering analysis; supporting electronic hardware and software validation; and preparing release documentation in alignment with program timing, quality, and cost objectives. The role also supports continuous improvement and costreduction initiatives throughout the product lifecycle.

The position requires close collaboration with suppliers and crossfunctional internal teams across Stellantis, including manufacturing, quality, purchasing, and program management, to ensure successful program execution.

Basic Requirements:



  • Bachelor of Science in degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent major
  • Minimum of 2 years of engineering experience
  • Experience in setting and assessing customer (internal/external) level requirements
  • Experience in constructing component and full vehicle DVP&R
  • Experience with defining functional objectives and constructing DFMEA
  • Experience with NX, Team Center, and change management processes
  • Passion for vehicles and the ability to access full vehicle performance characteristics
  • Ability to construct work plans to resolve issues
  • Ability to lead large teams, determine gaps to targets and develop solutions



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's in engineering
  • Catia V5 or NX training
  • Power liftgate sensing device or other Mechatronics experience preferred
  • Candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, good organization and program management skills, be a strong team player, and have excellent problem-solving skills
  • Experience designing, developing, and releasing mechanical / electronic components
  • Also desirable are manufacturing or launch experience, component or system testing, product creation, DFSS (design for six sigma)
