- Lead and coach problem solving:
- Be an expert in defining problems,utilizingformalmethodologiesand engaging othersin the process ofsolvingproblems.
- Lead Process Improvementprojects:
- Team-basedevents that follow the A3methodologyor Kaizen framework.
- Regularly update project documentation and be able to speak to progress and/or barriers.
- Processcontrol&automation:
- Leveragethemill'sDCS, QCSand plant information systemsto provide engineered solutions vs administrative solutions to routine problems.
- Identifyoptimizationsuch asloop tuning& grade changeimprovementwith ProcessControlEngineerandE&I.
- Businessintelligence anddataanalytics:
- Champion for operationaldata integrity and performance metrics (WorkOrderVariances, Rates of Operation,ERPtransactions).
- Become proficient in displaying / dashboarding datathat itmay be used forreal timedecision makingon the operating floor.
- Analizetrends and patterns in data toquantify eitheropportunities or improvements made.
- Furtherourevolution from a system of knowledge to a system of process:
- Identifyopportunities by mapping out knowledge-based gapsthen delivering withsolutions.
- Define decision points, propertriggersandappropriate responsesfor more predictable outcomes.
- Collaboratewithour talented workforcetounderstand the best-known waysand create standard work.
- Complete cost optimization projects:
- Takeinitiative to implement organicproduct and processsolutionsor drive CAPEXsolutionswith quantifiable improvements.
- Update documentation monthly to quantify project and cumulative savings.
Qualifications: Required
- Bachelor's degree inpulp and paper science,chemicalorindustrialengineering,orarelatedfield withfiveplusyears' experienceofdemonstratedprocess troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving abilities.
- Experienceapplying formal process improvement methodologies (such as Lean or Six Sigma)in a process-oriented manufacturing environment.
- Experience implementingVisualManagement.
- A demonstratedtrack recordof proven performance and ability to manage projects and lead teams at all organizational levels.
- Has a high degree of professionalism withhigh standardsin quality of work.
- Experience leading teams to solve complex problems.
- Strong group facilitationwith clear communicationand presentation skills.
- Enjoysworking and collaborating with members ofcross-functionalgroups outside of operations such asmarketing,customerserviceand supplychain.
- Strong computer skills includinga workingknowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to multi-taskand pivot quicklyin a fast-paced production setting.
- Must be able to wearrequiredPPE whenneeded, and travel through the facility to perform tasks in areas that are hot and humid.
Preferred
- Desired software experience: Oracle, MS Project, Power BI, Minitab or other statistical software
- Preferred Certifications: Third party certification in Lean or Six Sigma
