Key Responsibilities



  • Review and implement customer requirements; such as: Engineering Drawings, Process Specifications and other industry standards. Develop and maintain processes, test methodology and procedures. Understand manufacturing methods and part construction, as it relates to the NDT data.
  • Operate X-ray equipment and interpret film
  • Oversee and process OE & repair/overhaul hardware through FPI line and interpret results
  • Perform process control checks and NDT related calibrations as necessary
  • Identify and investigate new technologies, processes and/or procedures to maintain or improve NDT capabilities, efficiencies, etc.
  • Interface with engineers, internal customers, manufacturing personnel and management to improve processes. Provide guidance, leadership and instruction to other NDT technicians.
  • Integrate improvements to realize benefits in cost, cycle, and customer satisfaction.
  • Perform other assignments and tasks as directed.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable Barnes Aerospace internal, federal, state and local laws and regulations related to compliance and takes responsibility to ensure ongoing conformity with such rules and regulations


Job Requirements



  • Associate Degree of Applied Science in NDT - The classroom training for the applicable test method and level of certification needed must meet the minimum required per NAS-410
  • 4 years work experience in the NDT method(s) and manufacturing processes as a certified Level 2 is required.
  • Employee must have the skills and formal training needed to become certified to NAS 410 level 2 in radiography testing (RT) and Penetrant Testing (PT) and be able to pass an annual eye examination per the requirements of NAS 410.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of NDT theory, methods and procedures, and should have knowledge of NDT technologies, computer systems and conventional and automated testing systems.
  • Make and keep precise measurements and keep accurate records.
  • Must be able to take instructions and offer advice. The ability to work well with supervising engineers, other technicians, and mechanics is essential because technicians interact with people from other divisions, businesses, and customers.
  • Experience applying principles of mathematics for analysis, design, and troubleshooting tasks in their work.
  • Operating a personal computer with proficiency in related technical and specialized software. Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Access, Outlook, etc)
  • Must comply with ITAR regulations and site SSA requirements.
  • Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the USA.
