The Scheduler/ Project Controls Lead is a dual purpose role supporting capital projects across the portfolio. This individual will provide direct Scheduling support on projects, as well as serve as a Project Controls Leader on select projects, accountable for the establishment and execution of strong project controls practices. This role is ideal for a project controls professional who enjoys balancing hands on scheduling with leadership and influence, and who is motivated to raise the bar on project controls performance.

This position is a remote position with travel involved. The amount of travel would be up to 50% dependent on business needs.

Our Team

Our team is made up of individuals with diverse backgrounds supporting project services capabilities across the Georgia Pacific Organization. The project Services team builds and strengthens relationships with industry wide partners to successfully execute projects throughout the United States. Our team is comprised of project controls leads and capability leaders supporting project proven practices during front end load through closeout.

What You Will Do

Key Responsibilities - Scheduler (Approximately 70%)

  • Develop and maintain owner controlled project schedules across all phases of capital project execution with focus on FEL development.
  • Integrate schedules across contractors, self perform work, engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning to create a single, aligned execution plan.
  • Establish and enforce scheduling standards, including logic, calendars, activity coding, and progress measurement methodologies.
  • Review, validate, and challenge contractor schedules to ensure quality, realism, and alignment to owner milestones and business objectives.
  • Accurately status schedules using field verified progress and provide reliable forecasts of critical milestones and project completion.
  • Identify critical path and near critical work, communicating schedule risks and opportunities early to project leadership.
  • Perform schedule impact, change, and what if analysis to support scope changes, execution decisions, and recovery planning.
  • Produce clear, management ready schedule outputs, including milestone summaries, look ahead views, and leadership dashboards.
  • Support execution, outages, and commissioning teams driving schedule based planning and prioritization.
  • Collaborate with cost, risk, and procurement teams to ensure schedule integrity and cross discipline alignment.
  • Mentor project teams and promote continuous improvement in scheduling practices, discipline, and schedule literacy.
Key Responsibilities - Project Controls Lead (Approximately 30%)
  • Lead project controls activities across assigned small to mid cap capital projects, ensuring consistency, predictability, and transparency.
  • Establish and maintain integrated cost, schedule, and progress control systems aligned with owner expectations.
  • Develop owner controlled schedules and cost forecasts tied directly to business and milestone commitments.
  • Review and validate contractor and internal project controls deliverables for accuracy, realism, and completeness.
  • Track project performance, forecast outcomes, and identify cost and schedule risks early to enable proactive decisions.
  • Perform change management, trend analysis, and impact assessments to support scope changes and execution decisions.
  • Prepare concise, management ready reports summarizing cost, schedule, risk, and overall project health.
  • Support project managers with decision focused analysis, what if scenarios, and recovery planning.
  • Ensure alignment between schedule, cost, procurement, and cash flow forecasts.
  • Promote standardization, discipline, and continuous improvement in project controls practices.
  • Mentor schedulers, cost engineers, and project teams to improve overall project controls capability.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • 7+ years Experience supporting capital projects in manufacturing, industrial, or outage environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of CPM scheduling, cost control, forecasting, and change management.
  • Proficiency with Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project, Excel, and related project controls and reporting tools.
  • Experience managing or supporting project controls on small to mid cap capital projects ($25MM-$100MM).
  • Ability to translate complex schedule and cost data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage field teams, contractors, and executive leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance detail level analysis with executive level communication.
  • Strong owner mindset-objective, accountable, data driven, and execution focused.
  • Able and willing to travel up to 50% of the time (project dependent)

What Will Put You Ahead

  • 10+ years Experience supporting capital projects in manufacturing, industrial, or outage environments.
  • Experience in owner lead project controls environment.
  • Experience building and maintained an Owner Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) across multiple contractors and internal workstreams.
  • Experience in Schedule Quality and Governance oversight
  • Experience using Ecosys EPPM software
  • Experience working with Autodesk Construction Cloud or Autodesk Build
  • Experience working with risk analysis tools such as Acumen Risk
  • Experience working with multiple ERP systems including SAP
  • Experience working on projects in the pulp & paper, power, refining / chemical, and heavy manufacturing industries

For this role, we anticipate paying $110k - $150k per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
