Position Summary:

Temporary position for an HIM Assistant to support the medical records department through a variety of clerical, technical, and related support services. Responsible for assembly and analysis of discharge medical records. Reviews records for completeness, accuracy and compliance with regulations. Compiles, processes, and maintains records in a manner consistent with medical, administrative, ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements of the health care system. Maintains filing of medical records and assists with Release of Information. Maintains and operates a variety of health records indexes and storage retrieval systems to index, classify, store and analyze information.

Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); two years post high school education or the equivalent experience combination of education and Medical Records experience preferred.

Experience: Minimum 6 months previous experience in similar position in health information management; experience in a health care psychiatric facility preferred.
