Job Summary
Under direction of the Desktop Support Manager within Administrative IT - Client Services, provide resolution of the most challenging IT incidents and service requests in a timely and professional manner to 1,600+ clients. Includes priority setting and workflow analysis, problem analysis and resolution, hardware and software specifications and configuration, and using seasoned judgment and advanced technical expertise to solve a wide variety of complex technical problems in all aspects of client technical support. Functions as the highest tier of support technician within Administrative IT - Client Services, identifying needs and risks and responding accordingly.
Additionally, the Service Technology team is responsible for the development, implementation, enhancement, and administration of desktop support infrastructure and automation technologies including IT Service Management; Hardware and Software Imaging and Deployment; Remote Client Assistance; and Endpoint Management and Security.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- Required to hold a valid California driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program
- BA Degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
- Experience with desktop and business technical support systems.
- Experience diagnosing complex hardware, operating system, and software issues and determining root cause.
- Experience providing highest-tier technical services in Active Directory environments.
- Advanced experience with business productivity software including Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, and Adobe Acrobat. Experience with endpoint management systems (e.g., BigFix, Intune, JAMF) and scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python.
- In-depth knowledge of microcomputer, workstation, server, and network hardware and software.
- Thorough knowledge of cybersecurity principles, TCP/IP, DHCP, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless networking. Strong communication, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience and knowledge of ITIL.
- Experience supporting specialized line-of-business applications such as life safety, emergency operations, accounting, or facilities management.
- Demonstrated skill in technical project management and prioritization.
- Ability to construct and execute test plans and produce analytical reports.

Department Overview
Administrative Information Technology is part of the FOA organization and manages a diverse end-to-end portfolio of technology services essential to the entire UC Davis campus, including UC Davis Health Systems.
Department Specific Job Scope
The incumbent will serve on the Client Services - Service Technology team, responsible for providing the highest technical tier of business-aligned Desktop Support, as well as effective Endpoint and IT Service Management infrastructure encompassing 1,600+ staff and workstations, integration of mobile devices, process automation, and specialized support for units including IT support of life safety and emergency operations.
Requests for support cover a range of software and hardware services, including account management, email services, over 190 unique business applications, 60+ vendor applications, desktop and laptop systems running Windows, Mac, and mobile operating systems in a highly decentralized, heterogeneous business environment.
