3M Open - Media Relations Intern (Summer 2026)
The 3M Open is looking for a media relations/communications intern to support tournament media operations this summer. This is a short-term, hands-on role working directly with the media team in a fast-paced PGA TOUR event environment. It is a great opportunity to gain real-world experience working inside a professional sporting event.
Timing & Availability:
  • Flexible/remote work from mid-June through July 31
    • Start date is flexible and can be negotiated but we are targeting some time in mid-June for remote work.
  • Must be available on-site at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, MN for:
    • Media Day: Monday, June 29
    • Advance Week & Tournament Week: Thursday, July 16 - Sunday, July 26
Outside of those dates, work can be done remotely with a flexible schedule.
Role & Responsibilities:
This person will assist with a variety of media relations tasks, including:
  • Supporting media credentialing and organization
  • Assisting with interview coordination and facilitating interviews in the media center
  • Helping manage media needs on-site, including escorting/shuttling media for interviews
  • Assisting with day-to-day media center operations (setup, name placards, supplies, general upkeep, and serving as a runner as needed)
  • Distributing press materials and tracking media coverage
  • Assisting with stats, notes, and daily recaps for media day and tournament week
  • Supporting post-event wrap-up, including recaps and media clippings
Who we're looking for:
  • Studying (or recently graduated in) PR, communications, journalism, sports management, or a related field
  • Interested in sports media (golf knowledge is a plus)
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and resourceful
  • Strong communicator who can handle a fast-paced environment
QUALIFIED APPLICANTS MUST HAVE:
  • A desire to gain experience in a professional sports and entertainment environment
  • Knowledge in Word, Excel, Publisher and Power Point
  • Applicants must currently reside near the Twin Cities or be willing to commute.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work evenings and weekends
  • Full availability during tournament week in July
